Lip, you nailed it with Garnett. We all admire his intensity and appreciate what he brought to this franchise, but let's stop with the "bring back KG" stuff. He's the exact opposite of a mentor, and really doesn't play at a high level anymore either. Ronny Turuaf doesn't have half of KG's game, but he is a true mentor. If our younger players emulate him on and off the court, it will serve them well.

Hoopshype lists Portland as a suitor for Monroe. Not sure how that happens when he is looking for near max dollars and Portland has zip for capspace, and no way to create any without a significant trade.

"Words can do him a disservice, because he means that much to our locker room. He's the guy," Dooling said. "He's the guy who's willing to have the tough conversations. He's the guy who's willing to accept responsibility. He's the guy who's quick to lift his teammates up. He's the guy who's quickest to divert attention or the praise from himself and praise others.Kevin Garnett is the best teammate in the history of the NBA. You've never seen a superstar teammate who truly loves and cares about every guy on the team. It's such a pleasure." -Keyon Dooling
KG isn't a guy I'd like on the court, but he's a hell of a teammate.

Whether Dooling's opinion of KG is accurate or not, there is a big difference between being a good teammate and being a mentor. Trust me, KG is not mentor material.

Do you have any evidence? I'm just wondering. I've always heard he was a good mentor.

Perkins spoke pretty highly of him in that regard. I think some people don't separate his public persona from his behind the scenes demeanor. Clearly KG has been pretty well liked by most of his teammates. Wally was clearly and exception, but that is the only one I know about.

Its incredibally rare no matter what you do in life to have everyone like you. I remember hearing Rasho having some issue with KG which was a factor in him leaving or something. That was years ago and who knows if that was legit and it seemed like there was some issue with KG and Wally but I also wonder if it was way overblown. I don't think KG is coming here this year anyway. My guess is if he was he would do more much more good than harm.

It's a fair question, northern, but nothing I would feel comfortable with sharing publicly. Let's just say the basketball world will always be divided by KG supporters and those that have heard too much that they don't like. He's a polarizing figure to be sure. I still admire what he did on the court, but I'm glad he's no longer part of the franchise.

Just saw that. Pistons got him. If the market for players like Shaun Livingston and Jodie Meeks are going to be $6M a year I think Flip should just save the MLE because they just aren't worth it. Maybe Budingers deal will look like a bargain after the FA
