Nix is much more deserving of a two way than Ryan and probably Moore too.

Our bigs just dominated this game - Garza, Miller, and Minott (who played PF instead of SF). Everyone else looked solid, except Moore Jr., who continued his run of mediocrity. Even Ryan came around after a poor first quarter and ended up being effective.

Nix was probably the best of the camp fodder. Tonight he looked like a savvy vet guard that made all the right passes and hit his open shots. Thought he was good on defense too. But look at who he was playing against. Need to take his performance with a grain of salt.

Daishen Nix was near perfect as a shooter and had 10 assists. Passing and shooting are the biggest need in a developmental player. Ryan can't shoot consistently and was part of worst defense for Wolves tonight. Ryan was 0-12 and started off cold when game was close. I'm definitely ready to move on from Ryan. He is 26 and hasn't shot well and this is supposed to be his best skill. Give me a younger guy who can be groomed for a future rotation player and Nix might make the most sense of the guys headed to Iowa with the possible exception of Vit who didn't play. Nix is 21.

It was just one game though against a non-NBA team. Go look at his numbers from last season. He played nearly 1,000 minutes over 57 games as a 2nd year player for Houston. He only made 29% of his 3s and was 34% from the field overall. He also had a pretty terrible Assist/TO ratio for a point guard. I mean, he was really bad.

The confounding factor is his age, as he is still just 21, so it's possible a light could suddenly go on for him. But unless he is showing the Wolves staff a much improved game in scrimmages as well, it's hard for me to put much weight on this one game versus his play over a way larger sample size just last season.

He was a 19 and 20 year old playing for the Rockets, who never played in college, and wasn't ready for NBA competition. He excelled in the G League last year, shooting 40% from three, 7.7 assists and 5.9 rebounds, 2.0 steals. I know the competition was weak tonight but he outplayed older guys in Ryan and Moore tonight and he was the best shooter and best passer which are a set of skills we need to develop in a young guy considering Conley's age.

KG4 - I agree with your take on Nix. Given his age and lack of any college experience, I put more stock in his G-League stats than his NBA stats as a measure of what he might become. He looks really savvy and while not terribly athletic, he’s strong and has great body control. I’m not anointing him NBA rotation material. But he certainly deserves a long look to possibly replace Matt Ryan as our 3rd two-way player. Whether it’s Nix, Vit or someone else, I think we should use that third 2-way on a young player with upside. Matt Ryan isn’t good enough as a 26 year old to merit that last 2-way slot in my view.

Good win. The young guys who mattered outside of Moore all showed something.

I’m completely fine with Matt Ryan keeping the last 2 way. Just think if we need to plug and play a guy for 2 weeks he fits the best and there is non of the camp fodder who I think has high upside. Give me Ryan

Good to see you finally coming around on Minott, Q. :). He actually had some nice reads and passes in the last game against the Knicks as well. Someone mentioned tonight that the game seems to have slowed down for Minott and I was thinking the same thing before I heard the comment. He’s always had terrific body control and he showed that again tonight. His outside shooting isn’t bad and the form looks good to me. So I think his shooting will be fine. He has good hands. He finally looks like he’s under control. His defense looked improved these past two games as well, although it’s still a work in progress for both him and Miller. I really like both of those young guys.

Speaking of Miller, he certainly looked good. He’s a naturally rebounder and I see him being an elite rebounder as an NBA player. He still needs a lot of refinement to his game, especially on defense, but can’t help but love his potential.

I liked what we saw from Troy Brown Jr as well.

I’m close to giving up on Wendell Moore. I just don’t see a lot there. And I see Matt Ryan as a waste of our third 2-way slot.

Overall, you have to love the depth in this organization right now.

You’re wrong on Minott, Kek. Minott is an NBA caliber player and in a couple years he’ll be a solid rotation player or better.

Nix is a better shooter, passer, rebounder, stealer and defender when comparing G League stats and he's five years younger. Neither player should play a single minute unless we have four guys out of the lineup, but at least Nix might be helpful once Conley or JMAC is gone and has shown enough to give him the chance to develop into a solid NBA rotation player. I think Ryan at 26 is about as good as it gets for him and he really is only emergency depth and honestly, I think there are guys just as good without NBA contracts.
