It wasn’t just last night’s game. The Wolves are 29th in paint points allowed so far this season and 29th in allowed offensive rebounds. This is a really big problem. It’s interesting to see the critique of Minott’s 10 minutes last night. I’m not concerned about Minott. I’m concerned about Jaden’s pathetic plats - the absence of any progression in his game and worse yet regression in his game. He had only 3 rebounds in 30 minutes last night. Minott had 2 boards in 10 minutes. At this point I’ll take Minott.

To go along with your stats. Wolves are in 55th percentile so slightly above average on giving up offensive rebounds when Rudy is in but dead last when Rudy sits.

I hadn’t seen that stat, Kek, but it matches my eye test. We’re giving up too many offensive rebounds when Rudy’s in but we’re downright terrible on the defensive glass and defensively in the paint when he’s out. Before the season a couple of us posted our concern that losing KAT would hurt our defense and rebounding more than our offense and I think these first half-dozen games have validated that concern. Overall, I think Rudy’s been terrific on both ends so far this season, but boxing out and defending the paint can’t be his responsibility alone.

Exactly. This is also what I said after our season opener this season. We have to find a new identity.

We are no longer the defensive minded team that starts 2 7footers and play big.

Kat may not be a defensive stud but
being a 7ft guy who can defend 4’s well and challenge shots vertically, being an average rim protector and above average rebounder and playing as
the defacto backup center was a big part of our success.

Randle cant impact the game the same
way Kat does. Different type of player.
