Ant is going to work, what should he improve on?
Re: Ant is going to work, what should he improve on?
Does Ant just need to work on pushing pace and unleashing him with TJ, Jaden, Naz, Clark, Rob, Donte 17 and 31? Dunks and 3s? 7 seconds or less? Dunks after dark? Kaaaaaaaahn!
Re: Ant is going to work, what should he improve on?
I'm unsure if this is facetious, straight serious, or straight sarcasm.
In my eyes, there are two routes to go.
All in on the next 2 years: KD acquisition.
Playing for the now and the future with Ant: by making shrewd moves to supplement/amplify Ant's talents with the current roster, being very selective with our limited asset pool.

I think I am serious. Let's run it down team's throats.TheFuture wrote: ↑Thu Jun 19, 2025 11:05 pmI'm unsure if this is facetious, straight serious, or straight sarcasm.

I am with you 100%. Fuck a big overhaul, stay the course, keep building with young guns, meet OKC where they are at, at an energy level, and break through the final wall to the Finals. Too many of us are forgetting that this is the best the franchise has looked in its history. Why reroute?Phenom wrote: ↑Thu Jun 19, 2025 11:20 pmI think I am serious. Denver will fizzle out, both LA teams aren't that scary, Dallas really screwed up, GSW's are dying.
OKC is going nowhere.
I see Wolves, Houston, Spurs as their challengers. We are a cut above both.

To stay true to the topic, I want Ant to first improve his PnR game. Passing/decision making/mid game out of a PnR. Ant with a floater, lob threat, quick pull up mid would be frightening to defend with his ability to also destroy at the rim. I actually do believe he could be our PG if he set his mind to it.

I completely agree future, and it was my hope after last years WCF that Ant would take notes from Doncic, Lively, and Gafford and he would really work to emphasize that over the summer with Rudy.TheFuture wrote: ↑Thu Jun 19, 2025 11:44 pm To stay true to the topic, I want Ant to first improve his PnR game. That didn't seem to happen so I am somewhat skeptical that it will this year.
I will resubmit that I think Ant and the Wolves should be focused on running their offense off Ants three point shot- lots of screeners at the arc while Ant moves with the ball setting up his step back or dives to the rim from a roller. Jaden, Naz and Ant could kill with that.
I know Ant wants to work on his "middy" as he calls it, but I'm concerned that his focus is in the wrong direction there. His shot is fine, and yes practicing and figuring out where his spots are in the mid game will help him, but what he really need to figure out is breaking into the middle of the defense and being patient with his pace of attack. Too often Ant would dribble the hell out of the ball from around the arc, and then either puts up a shot, drives without control or just passes a grenade.
I think in his mind he is assessing the defense and probing but the reality is that too often he was just giving them time to set up and since he's just dribbling in one spot he isn't forcing them too react to anything.
I really belive this is what he most needs to improve upon- being decisive with the ball in his hands and forcing the defense to react to him and his teammates- quickly

You are really underestimating Dallas. Cooper Flagg will be a beast and pairing him with AD and Kyrie forms one of the best Big 3s in the West. Kyrie should return before or by the all-star break and Dallas may not be beasts in the regular season but they'll be a very dangerous playoff team. Plus, Dallas has a really good supporting cast with the tandem of Lively and Gafford, Klay, PJ and Naji Marshall. Kidd is an underrated coach.TheFuture wrote: ↑Thu Jun 19, 2025 11:32 pmI am with you 100%. I'll reserve my opinion on Flagg until after he hits the NBA floor. He still has plenty of questions offensively. The media is propping him up as the next LeBron prospect, well, because LeBron is done. I don't see him as that. They also have a core that suffers from injuries throughout their careers and are aging. And no, I disagree that Kidd is underrated. He is appropriately rated - mediocre.KG4Ever wrote: ↑Fri Jun 20, 2025 3:46 pmYou are really underestimating Dallas. Re: Ant is going to work, what should he improve on?
I used to think of Kidd as mediocre as his record is a bit above average but not spectacular. I began to appreciate Kidd as a coach when he outcoached Finch in the WCF and got his team to the finals. Looking back, he jumped right into coaching after his career and after a so-so first year in Brooklyn, Milwaukee traded two second rounders to get him and he took a 15 win Bucks team to the playoffs twice and helped develop Giannis who was pretty bad his first year before Kidd got there. Pretty much his first time that he had two superstar players together, Doncic and Kyrie, he did well. Either Kyrie or Doncic missed a lot of games in his other Dallas years. While I don't put him in the upper echelon of coaches like Spo, Kerr and Pops, he's above average. Coaches that can get to the finals, and especially those who win there, have my respect.TheFuture wrote: ↑Fri Jun 20, 2025 4:07 pmI'll reserve my opinion on Flagg until after he hits the NBA floor.
