- Rocco got the start at Center: 26 minutes, 17 pts, 8 rebounds, 1 blk, 6-10 from the floor including 1-2 from 3. He was a +16.

- Someone is going to sign Zyon Pullin: 32 pts on only 10 shots/3rebs/6 assts/2 stls. He's the G-League version of Jamal Murray.

- Tristen Newton with 27 points/4 rebs/6 assists. He was 6-11 from 3. He has really improved his 3-ball.

The starting guards of Pullin and Newton are both lead guards, capable of playing on or off the ball, basically taking turns in setting up the offense. Neither are on a Two-Way. One or both will eventually be signed by some NBA team to a full roster spot or at minimum a 10-day deal as we enter the dog days of the NBA season.
Here’s my question… why is Ingles on this roster? This team is in desperate need of as many PG lottery tickets as possible and we need to get one or both of these guys signed to contracts now. Look what OKC found in that Ajay Mitchell guy… we need to find that guy badly. If that means cutting Ingles, Freeman, Hyland… they need to get both of these guys signed. I’m tired of wasted Roster spots. That’s what losing teams do… we have Conley, Randle, Rudy - that should be plenty of vet leadership. Get these guys signed so that another team doesn’t swipe them.
Totally agree, DLoser! I was thinking the same thing last night after the game. It makes no sense to have Ingles sitting on the bench for anything other than comic relief. He’s not going to contribute meaningfully this season and isn’t going to develop into someone who contributes in the future. Let’s give Freeman’s two-way to Pullin and Hyland’s contract (Ingles roster spot) to Newton. Meanwhile, give Conley’s minutes to Rob and Shannon.
unfortunately, the insistence and use of Ant as poor man's Luka is an indicator that the team's kinda giving up on seeking a young PG they need to develop. It's either gonna be Ant or an established one through trade.

Iowa wins after a couple losses.

Rocco started: 25 minutes, 16 points on 6-10 from the field, including 2-3 from 3, 5 rebs, 2 assts, 3 blocks, but was a -5.

Rocco now shooting 50% from 3, but it's only on 18 total attempts. Still, it's an encouraging sign that the potential is there to shoot the 3. The biggest thing he needs to work on is strength and agility. The raw basketball skills and size (obviously) are there.

Newton and Alize Johnson starred, Pullin coming back down to earth after a hot start to the year.

Let's hope the 3-point shooting is a real thing...a center who can draw out the opposing center from the paint is such an asset. Does anyone know if he has had any success with his treys in Australia? How is his shooting form?

As I've said before, a year ago Rocco was being discussed as a lottery pick before a disappointing season.

He hardly took any 3's in international play. He doesn't have a really quick release, but his form looks fine to me. He has years to get better at it, so the fact he is willing and able to take them in the G-League as a 19-year old rookie is a very good sign.

I watched the entire game yesterday. Rocco looks good. While there may be a TBD as to what he might become, I think his floor is really high. Somewhere between Robin and Brooke Lopez? But it’s not this year, and probably not next year. But it’s coming!

Newton has looked far more deserving of a 2-way contract than Freeman (who was my guy). If you were ranking the Wolves depth behind our trio of bigs, what would it be right now? Seniority and current situation would suggest: Miller, Joan, Freeman, then Rocco. But I could see that order changing over the next few months.

It also shows what tough shape we might be in if one of our trio went down…

I've watched a fair amount of Iowa. I see nothing in Freeman that would justify his two-way, not sure what the front office was thinking. He doesn't even look like he has NBA size.

On Rocco, the thing I like least about him is his lack of mobility and strength in the paint. He doesn't fight hard enough for boards or show much inclination to move and position himself in the paint, i.e. "small area quickness". His North/South speed is fine in terms of just getting up and down the court. This stuff can partially be rectified in the weight room, but some of it is want-to as well.

I'm not quite caught up yet in tonight's game, but Beringer started again. He is looking quite a bit more comfortable and is being more impactful than his prior games. Just needs minutes under his belt!

Not watching this one....good to hear they are getting him some more touches on offense.
