Glad you brought up Phillips. The fact that they wanted him isn't insignificant. If he doesn't play this year he could be the fallback option if they don't bring back Clark who is a FA. Jon K had a tweet about how Finch has been frustrated with Clark the last couple games. They could have added another solid player in this trade other than Ayo. Sounds like Phillips players hard and is a freak athlete.kekgeek wrote: ↑Thu Feb 05, 2026 10:03 amAt least this year Ayo numbers are good when not playing with arguably the worst defending center in the nba in Vuc.Q-is-here wrote: ↑Thu Feb 05, 2026 9:40 am Ayo year by year Net Rating (how his team does per 100 possessions while he's ON the floor) and Net On/Off Rating (how his team does while ON the floor MINUS how his team does while OFF the floor).

9000 minutes played in the NBA. Someone explain why his team always loses when he's on the floor and always does better when he's off the floor. Make me believe!
(Yes, it did improve this season, which gives me some hope)
But I know almost nothing about this guy but Julian Phillips the other player we got in the trade is one of the few positive net rating guys on a negative bulls team the last 2 years. His defensive metrics are good. He also is a 10 minute per game guy as a 22 year old wing. I think there is a good chance of him taking Clark minutes
Wolves trade number 2. We got Ayo!!

Wow, never heard of him, but he's an exciting prospect. 5 star recruit and McDonald's all american who apparently is an athletic freak. Only averaged 8 PPG in his one year at Tennessee, but might be a fun player to watch.kekgeek wrote: ↑Thu Feb 05, 2026 10:03 amAt least this year Ayo numbers are good when not playing with arguably the worst defending center in the nba in Vuc.Q-is-here wrote: ↑Thu Feb 05, 2026 9:40 am Ayo year by year Net Rating (how his team does per 100 possessions while he's ON the floor) and Net On/Off Rating (how his team does while ON the floor MINUS how his team does while OFF the floor).

Ugh, he seems like a solid player but this must mean we are out on Giannis and Ja. A flop by Tim in my opinion
Re: Wolves trade number 2. We got Ayo!!
That's interesting on Phillips. The sample size on his on/off stuff is a lot smaller than Ayo's (1,800 career minutes versus 9,000) so I don't put as much stock into it, but what you said about his defense is intriguing. Seems Clark-esque in his low usage.kekgeek wrote: ↑Thu Feb 05, 2026 10:03 amAt least this year Ayo numbers are good when not playing with arguably the worst defending center in the nba in Vuc.Q-is-here wrote: ↑Thu Feb 05, 2026 9:40 am Ayo year by year Net Rating (how his team does per 100 possessions while he's ON the floor) and Net On/Off Rating (how his team does while ON the floor MINUS how his team does while OFF the floor).

Ben Beecken
@bbeecken
Did a medium-dive on Ayo Dosunmu a couple weeks ago on the pod. He's a fantastic fit.
There are some overlapping skills with Donte DiVincenzo, but the major difference: Ayo gets to the rim a LOT more. (The only Wolves player with a higher % of rim atts than Ayo is Gobert...)

Personally I think Ayo is a more valuable player than Ja for the Wolves at this point and that doesn't even include the difference in salaries. This type of deal was more what I was expecting although I wasn't sure if they would trade for a guy that would end up costing a decent chunk of money past this season. With Dillingham gone that helps the money though.BloopOracle wrote: ↑Thu Feb 05, 2026 10:10 am Ugh, he seems like a solid player but this must mean we are out on Giannis and Ja. Right after Jim Pete said "you have to make the most of your limited opportunities in this league" ...
Juzang missed a WIDE OPEN teammate for a corner three to take a mid-range jumper that missed.
Re: Wolves trade number 2. We got Ayo!!
We knew Rob and Lenny were our most tradeable assets providing the meast value to the team.
I really like Ayo. He was great at Illinois, has good handles and makes good decisions. Loves transition and will give us a better defender in our 7th spot. When TSJ comes back we'll have a nice Fighting Illini backcourt (draft Keaton Wagler in offseason!).
His on/off are irrelevant as Chicago has been without direction since they drafted him.
Love this deal...called it yesterday

I'm with you, Leado...like this deal a lot. If TJ comes back anywhere close to what he was last season in the playoffs, this is now our bench behind one of the best starting 5's in the Association:Leado01 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 05, 2026 10:18 am We knew Rob and Lenny were our most tradeable assets providing the meast value to the team.

6. Naz
7. D'ayo
8. Bones
9. TJ
10, 11, 12: Clark, Phillips, Joan.
We have supplemented our bench with 3 serviceable players (if TJ comes back) without losing a rotation player. I give TC an A on this one.
