I hate to bring this up because Meyer always seemed like a good guy, but there are rumors that his shoulder injury this year is really a "shoulder injury"...that agent Scott Boras didn't think the Twins were going to give him a chance, so he told him to force a trade by faking an injury. I hope not, but if he is healthy all of a sudden in Anaheim after missing most of this season, I'm going to be pretty pissed.

I interesting LST. It seems like the Twins and Boras have got along well enough the last few years so I'm not sure if I buy that story but you have more info than me.

In addition I just watched Rob Anthony meeting with the press talking about the trade deadline and the deals. He basically confirmed the Angels really wanted Meyer but it's clear they wanted Santiago. He said sometimes to get something you have to give up something you don't want to give up.

Here is the link I watched. Nothing earth shattering but worth a few minutes of you have the time.

As Jack Morris said about Meyer there's no such thing as a 27 year old prospect.

So are the Angels picking up all of Nolasco contract? Because of Meyer? If we got Santaigo and Nolasco contracts off the books this is a big win for the Twins.

We are paying 4m in salary for next year and all of the remaining salary this year for nolasco is what I saw.

Yeah, not a huge financial win, especially since Santiago is due for a big raise next year. But a big upgrade in starting pitching...Santiago may be the AL pitcher of the month for July. and it's much more fun to cheer for the Twins with Grumpy Ricky gone.

Loved the game last night. Berrios had a tough first inning, but then reeled off several 1-2-3's in a row. His fast ball moves left to right more than any I've seen in awhile. 3 HRs for Kepler, and the Twins give him the silent treatment in the dugout after the third one! He clearly didn't know this tradition and looked really surprised...and kind of sad. Mauer (who dribbled a single into center) is getting high fives from everyone, and Kepler gets nothing!

I am pretty happy with the moves made by the Twins at the trade deadline. Good work. Any word on when Hughes will be back?

I heard Antony quoted on the radio yesterday.

Maybe it's just me... but the way he was speaking of the players as assets instead of as players/teammates/people (even the "most valuable assets") made me cringe a bit.

I couldn't shake the thought that he was a guy in charge of his first fantasy sports team.

[Note: Granted, a last-place club should be looking for deals, but I think part of the GM's gig is to balance that with getting the most from the players still here and building on what's here. And it's a bit of a PR job, too. I think the moves are fine to good. I think he needs work on the PR side.]

If that's what really happened, that's a gutsy move. A gutsy move for a 27 year old whose career is circling the drain, and an agent who the Twins seem to like but doesn't have many friends.

Which is ironic, because he started on the PR side.

It's his first rodeo. Overall, if he never gets another chance, and the odds are against him, he can hold his head high. This team will be way better on 4/1/17 than it was on 4/1/16.

It sounded like he was willing to move anyone if it made sense. I get what you are saying Abe. I thought he both sounded prepared and yeah a little like sure yeah we would trade anyone which did come off a bit like they were a little too willing to deal anyone. I think we all know everyone has a price but he laid it out there. At least he was honest I guess.
