Marc Stein:
"The Knicks are expected to hire former Timberwolves president of basketball operations Gersson Rosas as a consultant, league sources tell me."

Just saw that, and it strikes me as bizarre. I wonder what value they expect him to bring there?

I mean he was elite at talent evaluations. Getting Naz, Nowell, jmac, Mcdaniels, Ant,Vando,(who knows in bolmoro), knight and Wright all as draft picks or "throw in" in a trade is damn good.
His only miss was Culver and he wanted Garland who is an All Star in year 3. He was an elite with talent evaluations

It's hilarious partly because he was the supposedly cuddly guy that got hired a few months after the Wolves fired Thibs.
After the way things are going with Finch...it's possible they are asking him who they should be hiring as the next head coach. He also has a legit resume of being in the league as a front office guy. Some team was/is going to hire him eventually.

Probably a precursor to a bigger move at some point. Let's him get his toe back in the water. As time goes on and the scandal with the Wolves gets further into the rearview mirror, he's going to get another GM or POBO job eventually.

Still would be hilarious if he won GM of the year this year

I agree with some of kek's post, but I think calling him elite is going way too far. There weren't many tears shed here when Rosas was fired...more of a celebration! We all loved the Beverley trade, but he also produced a roster which we all recognize as being imbalanced. I'm not ready to give Rosas an attaboy yet for Naz, Nowell, and JMac...there are things I like about all three, but two of them struggle to stay in the rotation (Nowell currently out, JMac out much of the year), and many of us have some concerns about Naz as a 2-way player. Ant to me was a no-brainer...while he's been struggling the past few games (like others here, I think it's the knee), he was the clear choice for me at #1, and it would have been a blunder to go in a different direction there. I completely agree that picking up Vando was very good, and I hope that Jaden reaches the potential many of us think he has. But for every Vando there's a Culver, Juancho, Layman, or Crabbe.
Maybe some remember Rosas favorably, but his cliche-filled press conferences were annoying and not very educational in a basketball sense. Good luck to the Knicks...hopefully Gersson will be a little smarter as a basketball consultant than he is in his personal life.

I think Rosas talent evaluation was pretty stellar. His background as a scout paid off for us. I think he can still help teams in this capacity. Its too bad he was by all accounts a shitty leader.

The Utah Jazz are acquiring guard Portland's Nickeil Alexander-Walker and the Spurs' Juancho Hernangomez in a three-way deal, sources tell ESPN. The Spurs gets guard Tomas Satoransky and a second-round pick, and the Blazers get Joe Ingles, Elijah Hughes and a second-round pick.
