You draft who you think will be the best player in 5 years. That's it. Immediate impact should never be a factor for rookies. You sign free agents for immediate impact. You draft players for eventual impact. Drafting for immediate need is how you get Bazz and Dieng instead of Giannis and Gobert. Ages 24-31 provides more impact than 19-23 so you should draft who's going to be better in the second window, not the first.

Khans - I agree. I just worry about drafting some of these college kids that have shown nothing in games and have not been able to produce. It is a different boat overseas they are pros playing with older players over there.

The reality is selecting players is a very nuanced process. Russell Westbrook is one of the best players is the league and he didn't put up big numbers in college but OKC made that pick and knocked it out of the park. I laughed when GS was being ripped for reaching for Klay Thompson. The amount of bigs taken in the 2nd round (or even undrafted) that have turned out to be plenty worthwhile the last 5 years is not a small thing. Obviously the Draft isn't a complete crapshoot because some teams clearly do better picking talent than others do but I don't know if there is a hard fast rule except evaluate the talent try and find the best player and go from there. There have been some guys that were supposed to be finished products or low floor guys that turned out to be much better than anyone would have expected.

Also it's not just about picking the right talent but also being able to develop those guys.

and that is a reason why we need guys who can contribute now. This team has been awful at player development.

No overly impressive. Got pushed around more than I would have liked to see even though Kaleb is not chopped liver and has a few years on him. The video makes him look like he will need sometime to adjust to NBA. I am not sure how he projects as far as growth.

Introducing Guerschon Yabusele (french for Jeff Adrian)
Strengths: Has a tremendous combination of natural strength and explosiveness ... Bull in a China shop type of strength on the block. Absolutely bowls opponents over with his incredible core strength. Massive body structure but also has good dexterity ... Considering he's French, it's safe to assume it's natural strength. Meaning he could become even stronger when he gets on a serious weight training program ... Has extremely nimble feet and surprising skill for a player his size ... Has very good form and touch on his shot ... Can extend out to 3 point range with success and without having his shot mechanics break down ... Unlike many bigs his size, he can make plays in transition showing tremendous anticipation on steals as well as tipping balls without committing fouls ... Great body control both in the air and also shifting his weight to make plays on the ball ... Good at using fakes to get defenders off balance ... Understands how to use his massive arms and body strength to clear out space for shots ... Feel for game is solid ... Strong motor, competes hard. Smart kid ...
Weaknesses: Undersized at 6-7 for PF/C position, though he's got good length with a wingspan that appears in 7-foot range ... Thick limbs and barrel check limit his flexibility to some degree ... Lower body, legs and ass could use toning ... Plays extremely aggressive so will need to stay out of foul trouble ... Needs to improve from the line, as he his below 60 percecnt this season, at 58.3% ... Shot just 51 % from the floor so will need to improve his efficiency from the floor ...
