Upshaw has a red flag the size of Ohio. Wouldn't touch that guy.

Tyus can do that for us. We may lose on the offensive end, but if we have quality offensive possessions and go tit for tat on our second unit then I do believe we have a good chance to win many games. A rubio/martin/Wiggins/kg/towns 1st line can definitely put us/keep us ahead.
I hear you. It all sounds good in theory. I just don't think Tyus's game will translate well at the next leveI and that includes offense. He reminds me too much of Trey Burke. I get that he can get things organized and get guys the ball. But I question his ability to beat folks off the dribble and get his shot off cleanly. And defensively.....Oof.
I agree, you have very valid points on him. I am being a hopeful opTIMistic, and definitely have some bias due to his play in our state.
At least we can both agree and rejoice that we are debating on a player we received for a 31/36 pick, one of which we didn't sell for the first time in forever, and not on the pick which will ultimately define this draft/our fate.
Agreed. I get worked up on the small stuff, even if some of the big stuff is going right (e.g. Towns). I'm a huge believer in making smart moves for good value, even the smallest of things. If you
really want to see me get in a tizzy, let's talk about Jeff Adrien.....
I loved seeing Jeff Adrien play ... in china. ;-)

Argh! We gave up 3 2nd round picks for Jones! The trade sucks. What is Flip doing?

That seems to be the board consensus, Tim, but I think Tyus will be our backup PG this year. This isn't a Zach Lavine situation where Flip had to plug a SG who didn't start for his college team into a PG role. Tyus played 34 PG MPG last year and led his team to a national championship. He averaged 5.6 assists to only 1.9 TOs, and played his best basketball when his team needed him. He plays with poise and confidence...a 30 year-old head in a 19 year-old body. He'll struggle defensively, but he'll be a terrific option to run our 2nd string offense.

Even Harrell then! I don't see how the euro helps them next year for another run.

You know who else couldn't play defense coming out of college? Larry Bird and Magic Johnson. And those guys didn't last to #24. Just sayin. Enjoy the moment and trust that every once in a while a guy will develop some after the age of 19.

I do agree that Tyus would be an upgrade over LaVine. But it's a complete crapshoot as to whether he is ready to be a backup PG on a team that wants to accomplish something. That may be why a vet like Luke makes sense. He can play if needed, but can also sit on the bench.

The interesting twist for the Cavs is with the upcoming jump in the cap they're not even in position to extract some value via sign and trade. Love is likely to sign a 1+1 contract no matter where he signs so there is zero incentive for the signing team to give up any value.
As this Wolves team matures into contenders the Cavs will be sliding back into irrelevance, that Love for Wiggins trade is going to really eat at their fans!!

Well, we still have Lavine. I do not anticipate another veteran PG being added this year. And we really don't need one.

If Luke Ridnour can carve out an NBA career, so can Tyus Jones.
