Portland will receive Larry Nance Jr. in the deal, according to Wojnarowski and will send Derrick Jones Jr. and a 2022 protected first-round pick to Chicago. The Blazers will also get a 2023 second-rounder from Cleveland that originally belonged to the Nuggets.

Markkanen will receive a four-year, $67MM contract from the Cavs, Wojnarowski reports, and the Bulls get the first-round pick they were seeking in return for the 24-year-old restricted free agent. That pick from Portland will be lottery protected through 2028, Woj adds, and will become a second-round selection if it's not conveyed before then.

I think I like Nance in Portland.

Yup, swapping out 'Melo minutes at PF for Nance is going to help their defense a lot. He's a guy a lot of us would liked to have had! RoCo can now play some PF and SF with Nance in the mix and Jones gone. This is a "keep Dame" move.

This is a really nice move for the Blazers. They get Nance and get to dump Jones all for a first round pick and a 2nd rounder. Jones I think it's a worthwhile player but obviously Nance is an upgrade.

Chicago gets a player that can help them some in Jones and gets draft compensation. More Markkenen.

Cleveland gets a younger player that probably fits with their young group better but it does seem a bit odd to me as they have a lot of frontcourt guys. Was that the best use of an asset in Nance? It will be interesting to see how well Markkenan plays he could outperform that contract especially if the cap really goes up.

I don't know where to put this and it's not worth starting a new thread for, but D'Angelo Russell and Taurean Prince were with Alex Rodriguez in Miami recently. A-Rod posted a video on his Instagram story the other day of the two Wolves players and some other guests sitting outside smoking cigars and relaxing together. I wonder why players never wanted to come over to Glen Taylor's mansion for spaghetti and brandy.

Lets not forget that Nurkic has been injured the past two years. If Nurkic is healthy, Dame, McCollum, Nurkic, Roco, Nance and Powell are a pretty stellar group. Fun fact: Nurkic, Cov and Nance collectively make like $35.5 million and Wolves are going to pay DLO more than $30 million.

Josh Jackson might end up getting waived from the Pistons. Minnesota has no feasible room for him right now, but if they have an available roster spot after a trade for Ben Simmons, he'd be a guy I'd have interest in. Solid scoring punch off the bench and you could perhaps get him for the minimum.

Josh Jackson would be a nice cheap pickup for the Wolves. And he still has an enormous upside. I think he's a big of a head case, but he's really talented and can play. I'll take him for a minimum deal.

Meh. He'd be a 24 year old former high draft pick who was dumped by two of the worst teams in the league...

That doesn't happen by accident. Besides having to deal for a troubled person, he's not shown much growth as an NBA player either. In 3 full seasons, he's yet to reach 42% fg or 33% 3fg. Nor has he shown much improvement on either side of the ball. He'd simply be a mercurial troubled me-first type player who shoots a lot off the bench.

Even at the minimum... he could be more trouble than it's worth.

Jackson is like the "bad guy" version of Culver. Two huge disappointments thus far.

If I was going to pick one to help me win basketball games this season I think Jackson is the better version (more experienced) but if he is let go and is a FA it just illustrates why I didn't think anyone was going to take on Culver...Memphis had Jackson for a while. I'm happy to be wrong and while I know at this point it's probably overstating the move but I still can't believe Rosas was able to pull of that deal for Beverly.

Also I do agree with Cam that Jackson for the min would be a solid pickup. Not sure I think the Wolves are the right landing spot but I do think he can help a team for that price. There may be better options though although with a shorter G-league season last year they might not be as many guys teams feel like they have seen enough of.

Speculation related to the Paul Millsap signing: "Having another big man on the roster should lead to further speculation of a potential buyout for DeAndre Jordan. There has been talk that Brooklyn wants to get out from under Jordan's contract, which will pay him $19.7MM over the next two seasons."

If the Nets buy him out, he'll probably look to latch on to a title contender. But he'd be a nice addition to the Wolves as a veteran backup center or a starting center with KAT shifting to PF.
