Any guesses as to what the story is? Don't worry, I'll let you know. The infamous, one and only, Sauce Castillo, Nik Stauskas himself has signed a two-year deal with the Boston Celtics after scoring 100 points in back-to-back games (57 and 43) in the G-League.

Today is a good day, folks. Today is a good day.

Good on Nik. He had a really tough time translating his college shooting prowess (44% from 3 on high volume with Michigan) to the NBA. May be it will be different this time.

(it's one thing to be ultimately right on a prospect, but if said prospect doesn't blossom until ***8 YEARS*** after he was drafted, then the statute of limitations kicks in and said prediction is rendered moot. At least according the rules of Q!)

Anyone have insight on the Celtics? Fascinated by their turnaround after being in such a malaise for a huge chunk of the season and wondering if anything in particular triggered it.

I haven't watched games but from what Bill Simmons said (the one team I take his opinion seriously on). Their defense has been amazing lately. Also Marcus Smart started to play like a true PG that helped a lot

Q, I'm flipping through the Collective Board Agreement and I don't see that statute anywhere! 8)

I hope it was clear that post was intended to be amusing and nothing more. I just happened to see the Nik Stauskas news and thought some here might get a laugh out of it. Who knows, though? Maybe he'll actually get some playing time with the Celtics. I never understood why, at least offensively, he didn't stick at the NBA level.

I'm really curious to know the NBA reaction to the play in if the Lakers/Pelicans make the playoffs and the Wolves don't. When the wolves could end up having a 10+ game lead on those teams

Right, #2 defense in the NBA right now. I just wondered what catalyzed the change since there wasn't any drastic course-correction in terms of a coaching change, etc. May be it was just one of these "took time for us to click and get on the same page" type of deals. The Wolves offensive turnaround after a fairly long funk kind of fits into that category.

I don't know, kek, but I suspect they would just have a "shit happens" reaction. The Lakers and the Pelicans (and the Clippers for that matter) clearly are playoff teams if healthy, but it's difficult to win when you're missing guys like George, Leonard, Zion and Davis. Things can change, but right now the Wolves look locked into either a 7th or 8th place finish and a likely playin game against the Clips. Anything can happen in a 1-game playin, but our 4 games against the Clips are pretty revealing...with George in, they beat us by double digits; with him out, we win by double digits. I suspect George will play (and maybe even Kawhi) and we will need a home win against either the Lakers or Pels to make the playoffs.

So since the Celtics were my childhood team and I still root for them... I better chime in...

The Celtics season turned around with their defense. It's just not that it's the 2nd best defense in the league for the year... it's been close to dominant during the past 20 or so games.

As of last week, the team's Def Rating was about 98 or 99 for this extended stretch. The 2nd best team was 106 or 107. For context... the 2nd best team has been closer to the 23rd best defensive team than they've been to Boston.

[Note: Yes. Smart has been doing his thing. Derrick White has helped. Brown and Tatum have figured some stuff out. And... Robert Williams being moved off of centers seems to be another large chunk of this. He's able to clean stuff up as more of a roaming, looming presence.]

Andrew Wiggins since the beginning of February (11 G):

31.8 MPG
13.9 PPG (41.5 FG%, 36.1 3P%, 42.9 FT%)
3.9 RPG
2.7 APG (1.4 TOV)
1.4 SPG
0.9 BPG

The Warriors are 4-7 over that stretch with three consecutive losses. Some of the fan base is beginning to turn on Wiggins already from what I've seen on social media. This might be something to watch.

Perhaps Draymond Green can return in a couple of weeks and save the day (or the season), but if not Wiggins will have to play a lot better than that if the Warriors plan on moving past the first round in the playoffs.

That completes it. I'm done with this board. I'll miss most of you guys. Good luck.
