I'm not crying over missing out on either of those guys and besides both go to likely much better situations than what we have here.
I dont think boston is a better situation for turner than us monster. Like us, boston has a logjam at the wing positions with bradley(resigned for ridiculous 8m/yr), thornton, green, wallace, young and smart. Seems like an odd signing.
I would have like turner with the wolves. He gives us a wing who can handle the ball and create. Would have been a good choice to have the offense go tru him on the 2nd unit. Can also defend and rebound well for a wing.
Ah maybe you are right but they gave him 2 years Flip only wanted to give him 1. Turner is one of these young players we will see who he is. Is he the player that was a solid contributor to the Sixers when they were winning games or is he the guy that's just sort of decent? To me the problem with him was fitting with Rubio. Talent is talent but fit matters. Turner is an odd player for a number of reasons. He could be a bargin or be another talented guy that keeps getting random roster spots but never doing much. Just saying how I see him. I wouldn't have minded adding him assuming we moved some wings.
Lewis having surgury kinda takes a little shine off but then they go out and sign Aminu. Mavs took Spurs to 7 games and if Chandler is healthy they are more talanted this year than last and probably better defensive team. Carlise is a heck of a coach. Yeah I agree top 4 seed no doubt.

Carlisle is a great example of the impact a great coach can have. There is no way the Mavs had the personnel last season, on paper, to take the Spurs to 7 games, yet they did. I'm not sure they had the personnel to make the playoffs. Heck, the Mavs shouldn't have beaten the Miami Heat a few years back in the NBA finals. Carlisle's teams have always overachieved.
I think Flip has historically gotten his teams to overachieve -- at least in the regular season. So I look forward to seeing what he does with the Wolves this upcoming season.

I agree with your post except I think you are selling the Mavs talent and front office a little short. Dallas was very deep last year and made some very shrewd moves. I sense you were using hyperbole to make your point about Carlisle who is right there with Doc after Pop as top coaches in the west but damn I'd be thrilled to have Carlisle as my coach.
I'm excited to see what Flip has in mind for this team. There are some really interesting comparisons to what he was working with when he took over the coaching duties the first time.
Just to put it out there. I think Carlisle is the second best coach in the NBA behind Pop. His teams constantly outperform their on-paper abilities and he gets everyone to buy in. He's proven he is a title winning caliber of coach with probably the least to work with if you look at the last decades worth of contenders.
