SteinLine is reporting that after spending a few days in Chicago, Coby White is more likely to be moved before Ayo and Tre.

Gotta think Mike would have to be part of that, unless, could Donte be the piece and the Wolves commit to Coby long term?

Reports are Jaden is untouchable unless it's a star player trade like Giannis.

I'm not opposed to moving Donte but I'm wondering why Donte would not re-sign here.
the day this team finally addresses PG will come at the expense of Donte's current role, and we've seen him off the bench be a mope even though that's the role we always envisioned for him.

If we were a properly built team Dante would be our 6th or 7th man. He is a great contributor but should not be a starter on a contender.

I would really hate to see Jaden go but when I hear machinations of the Knicks sending KAT to Portland to get the Bucks picks back, I feel like Jaden would be more valued by Portland for those picks. That would be the real foot in the door for Minnesota.

Interesting you say that. People might forget that Donte actually was a starter on a contender. He was the starting SG for Milwaukee the year they won it all. Granted, he got hurt early in the playoffs, but he was their starting SG in the regular season and the start of the playoffs and earned himself a ring.

When he got hurt, they essentially slid Middleton up to SG and put PJ Tucker in as their starting SF. PJ averaged 4 PPG and 38% shooting the rest of the way.

Not to mention our starting lineup has been pretty good this year, especially Donte, in terms of net rating (or is it +/-?).

Shams has us in the mix for Giannis. Crazy to even be nominated.

And didn't he start almost every game for the Knicks in the 2024 playoffs? He averaged 35 minutes a game throughout the playoffs that year and made more than 42% of his 3's. It seems pretty clear that Donte envisions himself as a starter in the NBA, and isn't very happy in a bench role. It's one of the reasons I'm concerned about any trades that would move Donte to the bench. I think he's been terrific as the starting SG...far and away our best plus/minus guy among Wolves with more than 500 minutes after being kind of meh coming off the bench last season.

Apparently we were closing in on a deal for Giannis bit when they asked for Conley we shut things down. Finch would go ballistic
