Not paying close attention but is our OLine going to be terrible again? I saw Reiff signed elsewhere.

It's going to be just fine...

It seems like they may have maneuvered with various cap moves to have enough they may still have some decent money to spend on one FA guard which would put us about where we were before Reiff was let go and then hopefully adding some more guys via the draft and some bargain signings. I believe there are a number of Olineman available that other teams cut loose.

Reiff signed with the bengals for 1 year 7.5 million to play RT. It's been quite a while but I remember that didn't go particularly well for the Lions.

Not bad signings for those teams. Peterson signing for us was mentioned as one of the worst. What did we save by letting Reiff go?

They saved over 11 million by letting Reiff go.

I'll say this about the Peterson signing...if they had signed him for 1 year for say 6 million or so I would have been down with the risk reward there even though I would have still had some skepticism about it working out. So really they spent 2-3 million more for him (since it's really only 9 million) than I would have preferred so...maybe it's not terrible. Still it's a little puzzling that Harris didn't come back and they put that much money towards peterson. Maybe that pissed Harris off a bit. If so honestly I wouldn't blame him.

Harris didn't play well on a one year deal, that should be concerning. Peterson's value might ly within his leadership and knowledge he can hand down to last year's draft picks. (similar to Terrance Newman) With the D line getting healthy and adding the guy from the giants the secondary should benefit.
Any interest in bookending Hunter with Clowney? Could he be had on a reasonable contract?

I hope so, but I am highly skeptical. Hopefully they look at the draft for both lines because you can't win without holding out up front. We got skill players, we need pass rush and pass protection. I'd love a dominant line to be able to run the ball with ease as well.

Oh I'm skeptical also. It's hard to get and keep a top oline...especially if you don't have a HOF QB to likely make them better than they are. The only thing I feel good about on that line is O'Neill. Bradbury isn't going anywhere but he is below average. Some would say it's not hard to upgrade Dozier and the games where Samia and Elf played. Reiff has been solid since he was signed but he isn't spectacular. Still if Cleveland or whoever ends up filling the other tackle spot are pretty bad it's going to be rough. This team doesn't get the benefit of the doubt when it comes to oline either. We will see. If they could get someone as decent as josh Kline was that would help. The bar is low but other teams have similar problems...I mean Elfien got a decent contract.

As for the D-line if Hunter is back (seems more positive now but...) I feel like they can be ok with someone on the roster being solid on the other side and they have been able to develop players at that spot. If Hunter is gone...yeah they need to draft at least 1 pass rusher in the first 2 rounds.

I've been thinking we might even go LT in the 1st round. I don't know what the coaches are thinking about Cleveland. We almost have to draft someone just to provide competition and if not backup roles for the LG and RG spots. We'll see what FA brings though, like you said they could still add a guard there too.

Interesting read on what open positions we have left. I wouldn't spend a high pick on DE. This draft is supposed to be weak at DE and strong at OL. It seems we have a good chunk of cap space left to make a deal. I wouldn't trade draft picks for an OLineman that is going to cost us both pick and large amount of cap space.

We got Cole.

Cole started 14 games last season at center. He was given a Pro Football Focus grade of 54.4.
I think he is insurance if Bradbury doesn't improve. The interesting thing is even though he has been in the league a year longer he is a year younger than Bradbury.
