Jon Krawczynski: Jarrett Culver is one name to watch as the deadline approaches. Several teams have been doing due diligence on him, including the Cleveland Cavaliers, sources said.
Obviously, nothing materialized here, but I have to wonder if Culver to Cleveland was in regards to a Larry Nance Jr. trade. Something like Culver, Jake Layman, and a first-round pick is likely what Gersson Rosas was trying to sell and the Cavs didn't buy it. Perhaps something to watch as we get closer to the off-season if Culver shows any signs of life.

If that was the offer, I'm glad Rosas turned them down.

There's no way he can further diminish his value by playing. If that means no playing time for Layman and fewer minutes for Okogie, Ant and Beasley, then so be it.
It only took 14 games last year to boost Malik Beasley's stock. I don't expect Jarrett Culver to get as hot as Beas did last year, but it doesn't take much to go from zero value to some value.
I'm a Culver fan but if he doesn't play well I am not just handing him minutes.
Understand that, but tell me why Josh Okogie or Jake Layman need minutes? What purpose is there for those two in Minnesota?
My point is guys should be getting minutes based on their play to some extent. I agree with what you are saying about Layman unless he just kills it out there when he gets minutes I'm ok with him talking a back seat. Okogie I still think can have value if he is put around the right group of players...and is eventually signed for some sort of reasonable amount of money. The reality is at this point from what little I have seen all these guys including Culver can ride the bench if it means Nowell is on the floor. I like all of them to some extent again I'm just not handing anyone minutes. Out of Culver Okogie and Layman sure I would give Culver-the top priority but he better do something decent with it.
