There is some interesting stuff there. The Vikings have also put emphasis on finding some guys that play a bit nasty and be vocal on that line also. The oline coach has history with Boone. It doesn't hurt to have a good pass protector along a line even if you want to run the ball. He and Reiff might be a good combo with alternating strengths. I have doubts they are planning to move Boone one of the few vet players they have on that line. It looks like he has no guaranteed money after this year though so if one of their young guys could take that spot it would save a bunch of money.

I just don't think Boone is good enough to be considered Nasty. When I think of a nasty OL I think of someone that punishes teams run blocking.

Some guys may be good run blockers because of their technique it may have nothing to do with their nastiness/punishing people. Honestly I don't watch these guys enough to know it just seems kinda weird they would go after a guy like that sort of praise the stuff he brings them...then be all pissed he is who he is and want to move on. Sully got unceremoniously dumped so it can certainly happen.

I know. I thought it was interesting they talked about Elfein. He was considered a nasty type player in college. I think the line is going to be better. Depth certainly is much better this year and we seem to be doing it with younger bodies then washed up reclamation projects.

My boy Jaleel Johnson is looking good. He could be a stud next to Joseph. I think he ends up being an upgrade over a healthy Floyd.

And my other guy is getting it done in LA. He would have been great depth in our secondary.

It sounds like Datone Jones making the team isn't a lock. Jaleel Johnson might be part of that also. Who is the other DT we would keep? Is Shamar the backup To Linval? It looks like they would save over 1.5 million is Jones doesn't make it. I liked the signing but if there is someone better move on. I'd probably rather just keep one of those DE than keep him if he isn't really doing well. There are always decent run stuffing big DT hanging out available if you have to get one mid season.

I doubt it would happen (LB group is pretty young) but I think they would save a pretty healthy chunk of money if Lamur didn't make the roster either. Can they still do more extensions if they end up with some more cap space after cuts?

I am with you on Jones. Seems like the odd man out. I had high hopes for him and Sutton. That speaks volume to me how good Johnson has been as a rookie. We have not heard much about Robinson either, but I am sure he is a lock because he can lineup at 3 places on the line.

I am all for going young at LB. We seem to have a group that just is not getting it done.

I think the only major concern for me on defense are the corners behind Rhoades

Robison is dinged up but yeah he is a lock.

I would be fine going young at LB. the Vikings have shown they are willing to cut Ventura players they have signed before. If someone is better or a lot more promising that will happen. If Brothers is back healthy and plays well that will make things interesting. It's pretty interesting that Gedeon has gotten so many1st team reps.

I've been encouraged about what Zimmer has said about Alexander and Exum. I had all but given up on Exum and now he might be the backup slot nickel guy providing a lot of value. Zimmer said Kearse has. Even good at the LOS but needs to be more decisive on the back end. I wonder if they would ever use him as a LB in some packages.

I just finished watching the game from last night...so it's just preseason right?! Um...

McKinnon may have locked up that KR job. He looked good out of the backfield also.

I was surprised Koehn got all the kicks. Maybe they wanted to see as much as they can from him before having to decide. No idea who has the lead when it comes to Punter

Keenum has looked good pretty much the whole preseason. Submariner side arm thing was kinda awesome. It's a good think Heinicke is pretty athletic because he had some poor throws.

The oline...

CJ Ham looked good especially with his catch. I'd guess he makes the roster. TE is gonna be tough.

I'd guess Sutton makes the team before Datone Jones.

Adams and Coley looks promising even if they each had a drop.
