I can't say I have a problem with that...

My guess is that we will see multiple starting lineups over the course of pre-season with this being one of them. Is Juan Hernangomez not playing tonight?

I'd guess they are going with Layman Tonight since Juancho and others were late to get in because of Covid protocols or whatever. Maybe Layman is really doing well in practices and maybe doing some good things of defense. In theory Layman has the skill set to be an excellent complimentary player for this team maybe even as a starter at a forward spot. MAYBE he puts that together this year. That would be a pretty big deal. I'm not reading much of anything into this preseason start though but it's certainly a little interesting.

I hadn't thought about the COVID protocols, but Hernangomez has been running around in practice around other players so that wouldn't make much sense to me.

I think we'll see Layman at both forward spots during the season, but his lack of rebounding makes him a poor fit next to Towns as a four.

Yeah, he has been practicing lately, but he was not practicing the first few practices because of the COVID protocols. Apparently we should not read too much into who starts tonight.

Layman matching up with Kyle Anderson might be part of the decision. It will be interesting to see who comes of the bench for Memphis at that spot.

Hernangomez still can't finish.

Edwards has put up an air-ball on a contested pull-up 3, jumped too soon on a Rubio pass, and got beat backdoor in the span of about 2 minutes of game action. Welcome to the NBA rookie!

That Rubio baseline finish was nice.

I also like him working with Ed Davis.

Well our D seems exactly what we thought it would be.

I'm not saying they weren't fouls but a lot of foul calls on Wolves in that first quarter.

Easier said than done, I suppose, but I'd like to see some defensive rebounds get outlet passed to Anthony Edwards so he can just go in transition. That might be his best ability offensively right now. Let him be a thoroughbred with the basketball in open floor situations.
