Wolves vs Det GDT
Re: Wolves vs Det GDT
With Butler out we can't afford to start Bazz next to Wiggins. Makes our ball movement and spacing issues even worse. I'd start Bjelica at the small forward especially in games like today against bigger SF such as Tobias Harris. I'd also like to see Dieng start ahead of Gibson. TAJ and KAT starting together is simply not working.

Except that wouldn't do squat for the lack of defense which is their problem. If I were Thibs I'd start Bazz again, but not Wiggins and KAT.

Bellys a smart defender and probably our best three point shooter. It's certainly worth a try. The one game he started at SF last season he scored a career high. His size alone makes him a better match up against the likes of Tobias Harris.

This team goes no place good until such time as it's two "best" young players learn how to, and willingly play defense.

Re: Wolves vs Det GDT
Normally when I have a commitment at night and I can't catch the game live, I watch it a little later on delay, ensuring that I don't know the score before watching. But after last night's disaster, I'm no longer going to put myself through that. So tonight when I got home by around 9:00 Eastern, instead of tuning the game in from the start, I did what most normal people do and checked the score first. Phew! Glad I didn't waste my time.
Cool was right - we could just as easily be 0-5 right now if not for a well contested corner 3 that Crawford made and a 35-foot bank shot by Wiggins at the buzzer. We are currently the worst defense in the league. How is that possible!? It's as if the harder Thibs tries to whip this team into defensive shape, the worse they get. And remember, we were not very good at defense in the first three games Butler played.
Very depressing.

Yes. But I'll add that I don't see this team ever becoming a good defensive team with its current personnel. As Q pointed out, we haven't even been very good defensively with Butler playing. I've seen enough of Wiggins to conclude he'll never be a good defender. I still hold out some hope for KAT but that hope is fading. So both need to simply improve enough so they're no longer terrible.
This team is built to score, not defend. That's even more true now that Teague has replaced Rubio as our starting PG. We clearly have to improve defensively because we can't expect to win giving up 120+ points. But to win, this team will have to consistently score over 110 points and fairly frequently score 115-125 points. This team is filled with scorers - KAT, Wiggins, Teague, Bazz, Crawford and Belly. The defense simply has to be good enough to hold teams under 110. Sadly, this team, without Butler, can't even do that against medicore teams. I don't have an answer for the offense. One thing is that we lack 3-point firepower.

Watching KAT and Wig try to play defense is like watching me trying to eat with chopsticks.

It really makes you reflect on how important Noah was to those Bulls defenses as well as team attitude. This team just doesn't have it without Butler. It's amazing how little leadership Wiggins and Towns have shown to date. Pay whatever it takes to bring in Bill Russell and have him school these young kids on what winning basketball is all about. There's not an ounce of team player in either of them right now.
