I'm just glad Zach Lowe isn't the Wolves president of basketball operations. :). For one thing, the Sixers would have to include other players to match salaries. I'm not interested. The more I think about it the more reluctant I am to trade Beasley, much less include him with DLO in a deal for Simmons. Having his 3-point shooting and scoring punch off the bench will be a critical part of making the Wolves a playoff team and eventually a contender. I also like that he's a terrific rebounder at his position and is an athletic player who can run the floor and finish above the rim. I might still be open to a dealing DLO straight up for Simmons, but there's no way I'd include Beasley in that deal.

He fully admits that he doesn't see Rosas as motivated to move DLO, but he clearly is hearing some talk about it in NBA circles, and thinks it would be difficult for Rosas to turn down an offer that included an all-NBA player like Simmons. The stars might be aligning on this one.

Kendrick Perkins said trade DLO + Beasley for Simmons on ESPN. I think this could really happen.

Some type of deal which revolves around DLo and Simmons that is. I would be hesitant to include Beas myself. We need more 3P shooters if we acquired Simmons, so that would set us back some for sure.

I say DLO + Culver.

While the Wolves would take a hit with shooting with both Beasley and Russell gone...

Culver has negative value... why would the 76ers want him?

Fair question. The only answer I can give is there is a history of teams thinking they can "fix" a young lottery pick with a change of scenery and different coaching. Also, Simmons makes more than Russell, so something is needed to even out the dollars perhaps. Beasley's contract is too much for this deal, and I agree with the sentiment here that we need his shooting and DLO+Beas is too much to give up for a guy who can't shoot.

It's quite interesting to me how many pundits are talking about this particular trade. Very meaningful IMO. And Simmons is so despised in Philly right now, the fan base might see DLO plus an underperforming young lottery pick as a nice haul.

They don't, maybe a 3 team trade is needed.

We can't be trotting out some silly Vandy, Okogie and Simmons with Culver and Naz. You really need 3P shooters around Simmons. So I have to keep Beasley. In fact we will need more 3P shooters as well if this trade happened.

Nobody says you have to trot out Vanderbilt, Culver and Okogie. You worry about getting top-end talent... not how that talent fits with fringe NBA players.

Sure. But ask yourself this... what would a team even see in Culver to FIX?

He hasn't shown any potential to be an elite creator. Shooter. Passer. Not even a glimmer of hope over 97 games. He doesn't have elite size. He doesn't have elite athleticism. Nice kid and all... but his NBA career will be that of a low-priced journeyman... at best. Think of this way, where would he have landed in the 2020 draft... or 2021 draft based on what he's shown through two seasons?

Out of 113 players who've played from the past two drafts... Culver ranks #108 in Win Shares. #108 in VORP. #107 in free throw percentage. His best ranking is probably Minutes Played where he comes in #22... so he's been that awful and has shown next-to-zero improvement despite playing more than most of his peers.

There's literally nothing that he has shown that makes him worth giving up assets for $6M+... only for the chance to pay him $8M+ the next season.

Ive been considering my original Beasley for Simmons deal (throw in George Hill to match Salaries or sign and Trade Danny Green this isn't hard people) the problem I have with it is this. Russell represents a chance to get an above average starter meaning a legit piece to a good roster. So does Beasley. So you are giving up 2 shots for one player that you know what he is and isn't most likely. That MIGHT be too much to give up.

Another thing to consider is if you trade for Ben Simmons you may as well move Okogie in the deal too. The Wolves need shooting not a bunch of guys that also can't shoot but do good things. They may move Vanderbilt too as he is basically an obviously worse version of Simmons. Would either of those guys be of interest to the Sixers? Vanderbilt would need to be a separate sign and trade move. Oh and then there is the smaller better shooting version of Simmons...Ricky Rubio...what do they do with that guy? Culver is in this list of guys but like Abe keeps saying...he isn't going to have much of any value especially to the Sixers who want to win sooner rather than later. That may be more interested in Juancho than Culver

Let's say the Sixers want Beasley and Russell. Like I said before that may be a lot of give up but...the Wolves do have Jaylen Nowell that MIGHT be a replacement to Beasley and has more ball handling and playmaking skills. Of course in my theoretical deal the Wolves would be getting a vet guard that could help them sooner than later and also may be playing fewer minutes allowing for a young guy to rise if they are up to it.

Do they your hopes up (or be worried if you are against it) for this kind of deal but I also do think it's not a ridiculous possibility espcially since Rosas and Morey have such a lengthy relationship. They may see a way to help each other out and are relentless. It helps they are in separate conferences.

FNG - I agree that including Beasley would be too much. I also agree that a DLO + Culver package might be enough for the Sixers. You are absolutely right that the NBA is full of GMs who think they're smarter than everyone else and hope springs eternal in NBA front office war rooms. I just don't buy that Culver has negative value. You don't go from a consensus top 6 pick who lead your team to the NCAA finals to negative after two bad seasons, especially when those two seasons have been pretty unusual with a pandemic and then a season-ending injury. Culver's an ideal throw-in as that young talent the other team takes a flier on with a minimal financial commitment. Meanwhile, the other team gets the guy they want, in this case DLO.

Again, I'm not sure I'd do DLO + Culver deal if I were Rosas. But I can see how the deal would make sense for both teams. But there's no way I'd give up both DLO and Culver for Simmons, You simply can't be a contender with a max player who can't hit perimeter shots or free throws. Even Ben's 60% career FT average doesn't cut it, unless maybe your a dominant center like Shaq.

I dont think DLo and Culver get us Simmons. I dont even think DLo and Beasley get us Simmons. Beasley is in prison, no way a team isnt expecting a discount on him. People are down on Simmons because the playoffs are still fresh, Morey is a smart GM, if he moves Simmons he at least gets a first round pick from a team.

Simmons has regressed in every single stat this year. And doesn't make his Fts which seems to be a point of future shooting success on here.
He also doesn't seem to bring much in the way of leadership qualities at a position that usually demands it.
