And how sad is it that we have a max player who it's difficult to make a case for being above average? I know some would say Dlo is in the top half at his position, but I find the data strongly against him. eFG%? Lower than Juancho's this year and almost 3 percentage points lower for their careers. Defense? Consistently terrible and arguably worse even than Juancho. On/off numbers? Negative every year of his career except one, and worst on the team this year. That does not add up to an average player sadly.
This is a dark era for sure.
How much sadder is it that we've had to watch this team try to build around two different max contract/averagish players for 4 years now...

Yup. Wiggins was the original sin. Without that decision, we wouldn't be saddled with DLO and minus a pick.
And to be fair and balanced, Rubio has disappointed too. We aren't getting the Phoenix version I was hoping for.

Time out Q. I can agree the Wiggins contract was a mistake, but that doesn't mean we had to trade him for DLO and give up a first and second round pick to boot. We would be a better team today if we didn't make that trade, and our future would look brighter too. Wig is never going to live up to the value of that contract, but doubling down on that problem didn't have to occur.
