Good
-Dlo did all he could do to keep them in the game offensively
-Vanderbilt is a rotation player
- The Iowa Wolves played well
- Ant scored 26
- in garbage time but the old Rubio was back
Bad
- Terrible defense
- Ant had a lot of empty possessions not in garbage time
- Beasley missed a ton of shots
- Wolves need to sign a big body, Rosas is doing a disservice to the fans, Saunders and the players not having a big body center to just give us a chance.
- Rubio 1st stint was really bad
-Naz can't stop fouling.
- The Timberwolves came into the game #30 in defense. I don't think that's changing.
- Edwards took 40 shots in the past two games. Fortunately, the Wolves organization doesn't have a history of giving young promising players too much too soon... and they're holding him accountable and expecting more than garbage time empty stats scoring. Ahem.
- I see a lot of calls for Saunders' head. And that's fine, as long as we all realize that's not even remotely close to the answer here. In fact, I'd rather have it sooner than later. My feelings about Rosas selling us a bill of goods at the beginning of this re-re-re-build are well known. My feelings about him mapping out his list of scapegoats is well known. Let the first domino fall. I don't really care if it means Rosas is gone sooner than later.
- 30, 30, 29, 36... that's how much the Wolves are down entering the 4th quarter in 4 of the past 6 games.
- We get that Towns is out. And he's the best player. But look around the league. What other team would be THIS bad without its best player. Can you name one? Heck, some thought the Wolves would compete with Memphis. That team is without its best player. And its second best player. And a 3rd starter. And they're not remotely THIS bad.
- The Wolves looked embarrassingly bad in the preseason. The Wolves looked embarrassingly bad for 36+ minutes vs. the 1 - 7 Pistons. The Wolves have looked historically terrible in the past 6 games. I don't think we're able to point at the Utah game as a sign of hope ... as much as simply an odd anomaly at this point.
- Remember, even if the Wolves lose the next 64 games... they only have a 40% chance of drafting in the 2021 draft.
- Towns will help. Obviously. More time together will help. But things are spiraling and the squad has too many issues. I think part of the problem right now is that nobody really knows their role. Inexperienced teams without a pecking order become very very bad teams quickly. Towns will help with that most of all...
--------------------------------------
- Some of the guys hustled until the end. It looked like Rubio was making a decision to play a certain way in the 4th quarter. Out of respect for the game? To show leadership? To earn more playing time? In any event, he needed the run. He's still extremely, oddly rusty.
Gave up watching half way through the 3rd. It's not that we didn't play hard. Rosa and Saunders are trying to incorporated a system that doesn't suit the strengths and weaknesses of the roster THEY'VE constructed. Sure KAT is a focal point of the 'system', but you can't rely on one player. Especially one who's going to get banged up becaused of the 'system' and lack of low post help.

Im still failing to actually see the downside of starting Edwards. Is he developing good habits watching less talented losers in front of him? We're already out of the playoffs. This team sucks. Start him and Vando.
They may suck too but at least it will give this team a pulse and a direction.
I'm not expecting any wins until Towns gets back, especially with the opponent's starting backcourt going on 11-21 on threes, but there were still a lot of things I enjoyed in a quick DVR watch.
Edwards and D-Lo are both driving and getting to the line more- 13 free throws is a good total for them. Nice to see D-Lo with back to back impressive offensive games.
Is there ever an offensive rebound that Vando isn't at least close to getting? He's credited with 3 (10 total), but he kept several more alive. 10/10 with a steal and no TO's is a nice box score, and at least half of his time wasn't during garbage time. He's been really fun to watch this season.
Juancho showed up this season not at all in playing shape, but he's looked more like last season the past two games. He rebounds well, isn't a ball stopper (I counted at least 3 hockey assists tonight) and will reliably hit the open three (he'll be back at 40% soon with all the open looks he gets). He should start next to KAT, with Vando getting a lot of minutes backing him up at PF.
I found Jim Pete's comment that McDaniels should be a rotation player quite foolish. He clearly has enormous skills and a good feel for the game, but he's a guy that needs to be playing 36 minutes a night in the G League to develop his game.
The doom and gloom on this board is justifiable given how poorly this team has played, but I still note that Saunders has not lost a game with this roster and KAT healthy. Any thoughts of challenging for a bottom three spot are unwarranted unless KAT is out for the season, which he is not. There's too much talent on this team when KAT is on the court, and I still see them challenging for the playoffs if KAT misses fewer than 10 games.

You shouldn't even mention these two in the same sentence, as their path thus far has been completely different. We've seen this play out before where the one guy has to toil his way at the end of the bench and the G-League and ultimately overachieve in garbage time to just barely start getting rotation minutes in Year 3. In the long-run, he's probably better for it.
Meanwhile, you want to gift Edwards - who is already being spoon fed minutes - even MORE minutes that he hasn't earned. We've seen this movie before.....
