For what it's worth, I think the "best friends" angle is overblown a bit.

If they don't win together, I guarantee that friendship isn't nearly as strong as once proclaimed.

[Note: Remember how much easier things were when Garnett was the star and his best friends were a bunch of arrogant loudmouth punks who leeched off him and were terrible at basketball? I do... I played against the OBF in a men's league.]

I found this 2 minute discussion between Moore and Robson spot on and consistent with what I've always believed about the DLO trade. Analytically, DLO just doesn't fit the system that Rosas claims to want to play. And yet he is betting that paired with KAT, DLO can become a much more productive player. Because of KAT's injuries/illness, we have only seen them together for 6 games, and the small sample size results have been quite promising. A productive KAT/DLO teaming is the concept Rosas was betting on when he gave up Wiggins and a 1st round pick. Time will tell how this plays out.

But they also hint at the real reason Rosas made this deal. KAT is the undisputed cornerstone of this team, and keeping him happy is an absolute necessity if this franchise is going to have any chance. I never sensed any animosity between KAT and Wig, but they also never seemed particularly close...and they certainly weren't effective playing together. So trading for KAT's best friend was likely a necessary move, both to keep KAT happy, but also to perhaps find a playing partner that would work better than KAT/Wig. I hope we soon get the opportunity to see if this gamble works out.

The best and ultimately only way to convince KAT to stay with the Wolves is to win. It was obvious at the time of the deal and has become more obvious now that DLO wasn't a good fit for this team's roster or Gersson's system, regardless of what you think of DLO's talent or prior production. It's testament to Gersson's amateurism if KAT's friendship with DLO was a significant factor in his decision to make the deal.

I'd agree, but I'd also add that Karl-Anthony Towns isn't a good fit with this "system" that Gersson Rosas seems to want to play either.

Now let's ask ourselves why Minnesota's trying to adhere to a style of play that doesn't suit their two best players... It comes back to what we've talked about before. Good organizations, good teams build their system around their talent maximizing their strengths and minimizing their weaknesses to the best of their abilities. The Wolves are ass-backwards trying to force their talent to play a certain way that perhaps isn't their best. Why?

The problem comes back to the terrible shooting from Rubio, Okogie and throw in Culver too. Just imagine if they all shot just bad from 3 like 32%. We might have 2-3 more wins.

All hail Lamelo. He had another great game and has practically sewn up the ROY race. I have to wonder if the big investment in DLO made Rosas reluctant to grab the best player in the draft, Lamelo. Imagine KAT, Lamelo, Defensive minded Wiggins and having our draft picks for next year. I'd be excited for that....

Jester drinks another whiskey.

Cough cough

Lamelo ball was -1 after 34/4/8 line. Hell of game to only 1 point better than the opposition.

Did I do it right cam and kek?

Hey man anytime you want to take your one point on every thread poster style. Your more than welcome to post on the twins side of the board and tell me that Sano strikes out to much and we should send his fat ass out of town.

Excellent point, Cam! As you know, I agree completely with your point about building the system around the talent and not the other way around. Rosas has taken ass-backwards to a new level of stupidity by trying to impose a system around a player who was already a poor fit for that system. It's incredibly frustrating to watch because it is so fundamentally flawed and obvious.

Timberwolves guard D'Angelo Russell will undergo arthroscopic surgery to remove a loose body in his left knee and is expected to miss four-to-six weeks, sources tell @wojespn.

I love the transparency from the Wolves organization...
