It looks like the best place to be right now is Mexico. 129M people and 164 cases and 1 death. It must be the Tequila.

The U.S. is a sprawling, diverse country that places individual freedoms above all else. It also has a fairly decentralized governance structure, which reflects this diversity. What works in California, for example, may not work for North Dakota. While this is normally a feature and not a bug, it probably is not ideal when fighting a pandemic.Hopefully we'll start bending the curve here, but so far we're still seeing escalating rates of new cases.
Yes it's great getting these reports from other countries. We went to Switzerland last year and I felt like I had a better idea of what Drew was describing about the area than I would otherwise. My wife and I said it's a good thing we have done some traveling the last couple years. It might be a while now maybe even domestically before we go much of anywhere.
I just did a Zoom meeting with some good friends in Virginia and they said they have seen people just go into Walmart basically hanging out together eve talking about the virus and slapping each other on the back etc. I haven't been out the last couple days but it seems like most people here are doing what they are supposed to...or at least trying some habits are hard to break. It was pretty hard to remember to stay 6' away from everyone when I volunteered at the cat shelter Wednesday as there isn't always much room in the hallways etc.

Yep, your chances of contracting Coronavirus is low in the country of Corona... your odds of being murdered by drug cartels on the other hand, not so much! ;)

Let's hope the next ground-breaking technology is an effective treatment for Covid-19 and that it's right around the corner.

GOV and freedom is hyperbole first of all. If you have a GOV ruling over you you are not a free person by simple reasoning. Them tricking the population into thinking they are free is the first trick of many. You can have certain abilities or freedoms to do things, but you are always at the mercy of your rulers if they choose to allow you to do so. Or you can do so and risk punishment.
I would say the U.S. WAS a country that placed individual freedoms above all else. Sure you have States that differ greatly, but you still have the over arching hammer of the Federal GOV on all the states and in most cases takes power away from the States. The Federal GOV for instance lists Cannibis as a schedule 1 drug (highest) while many states have legalized it. You are not likely to get arrested by the FBI for marijuana smoking though, but it does prove a point.
Another simple tyranny is the seatbelt law. You are in no way harming others by not wearing your seatbelt. Yet the GOV thinks they can hand out 100 dollar tickets because you don't. That is another simple example of how the population is "not free".

Being up here in NY, man I've never seen the city like this. It's not like a hurricane where you can see it on a weather map and project the trajectory. You can go outside and feel fine but it's scary. The trains are empty. All the populated hot spots are empty or closed. It literally is house arrest without committing a crime.
I don't see us watching any more hoops the rest of this season.

CBA pushed back the restart of there season from April 15th to May due to the rescheduling of the Olympics. The players are required to be quarantined for 14 days when they arrive.

So we may all die from this virus, but the Wolves draft lottery odds are likely locked in place! Noore worrying about winning too many games!
