40 wins.

Towns is going to have a monster year.
Culver is going to establish himself as a core piece.
Wiggins is going to have his best season in the last 3 years.

Even if the bolded section comes to fruition, comparing Wiggins to past years of himself isn't all that meaningful when determining if he'll be a player contributing to wins. That's just how bad he's been for the better part of his career.

The best season for him would be finally becoming a net neutral player. It'd be a career year. Sadly, that would be outstanding.

It's sad the difference offensively the jump back to mediocre Overall in terms of efficiency would be for him in terms of helping the team. There are some advanced stats that suggest he is less bad defensively now than a couple years ago. That wonderful gold standard you outlined for him being a net neutral player...maybe it's within reach...and that's kinda been my hope for this year. I know I know I need to calm down my wild optimism!!!

Sad but true, Cam! If Wiggins plays well enough to become net neutral, the Wolves might have some decent trade opportunities to unload him without having to give up any valuable assets/players. I'm still hoping Charlotte will take an interest in Wiggins. Bottom line in my view is that the Wolves need Wiggins to improve to give him some trade value. I really don't want him here long term.

The Raptors need Wiggins. He will go home this year.

I'd argue he was pretty damn close to a net neutral in his second year. His efficiency was league average-ish and he was very aggressive going to the hoop. This is back in the days when he wasn't allergic to dunking or getting fouled. And he actually made his free throws!

Sadly, he's regressed ever since. Only in Minnesota does a #1 prospect gradually get worse with time, not better, without having anything to do with injuries. Incredible.

The scary thing is that this franchise is so clingy that God forbid Wiggins actually plays well in this system that it'll just embolden them enough to believe he's turned the corner and keep him around.

There is absolutely nothing a change in system will do for his game unless he starts making some shots. As frustrating as the long 2's are, a bunch of 3's at 30% accuracy aren't all that great either.

I read this today and thought I would share - the 2nd paragraph is the reason why I think we improve our win total over last year. Some pointed out we got rid of a bunch of established players, but they are all old school stlye guys - all of the new guys are switch defense, 3 or the rim types - fitting exactly what we are now using. Yes, they are all cheap because they cant shoot like Curry, but I think they new style of Off/Def really helps us.

http://www.startribune.com/national-optimism-about-timberwolves-is-perplexing-unless/563714612/ST article
"After being dead last in the NBA two years ago in combined shots taken at the rim or from three-point range, the Wolves actually increased that mark by 7.8 percentage points last season (but still ranked near the bottom of the league at 60.3%). This year, if Summer League and preseason are any indication, that number could vault closer to 75% and put the Wolves among the league leaders.

The Bucks made a similar leap from two years ago (60.7%) to last year (75.9%) and increased their win total by 16. If the Wolves did that this year, they'd blow even optimistic projections out of the water."
