Does Teague really have great chemistry with anyone? He's good at what he does but i don't see him making others better.
Re: Magic vs wolves
Sounds like I'm alone on Teague island, and I'm not even saying he's elite. Someone's got to support him around here I guess.

Teague had a great game, but that drop coverage gave him some wide open looks that even he couldn't pass up. When teams play a more agressive PnR defense against him is when we see endless dribbling and indecisiveness.
At least he's looking for a play. He's by far the best point we have on the roster. His only ineffective sets seem to be when he's trading in the two guard lineups with Tyus or Rose. He's had a down shooting year but he's a good PG. Glad to see him have a great game.
He's the best PG on the roster in terms of his total body of work and skills, but he hasn't developed any meaningful chemistry with KAT, our most talented player. So when those two are on the floor it's sort of a sum of individual parts vs. a synergistic pairing. I don't know whose fault that is or why, but it just is.
And finally, Teague hasn't modernized his game. He's a good enough 3-point shooter to look more for that shot and up his volume, but he refuses to take it unless he has a ton of space. Again, is that soemwhat on Thibs or is it all Teague? IDK, but it's a problem.
You nailed it, Q! I put a lot of it on Thibs. Teague isn't dumb or selfish. A better coach would push Teague to adjust to his game.
Youre back early, don't tell me you left at the half.

That's a tough one though... after all, Teague is a 10-year veteran making $19M annually.
It's not always easy to teach an old dog new tricks... especially one who's made about $90M doing things a certain way.
______________
As for tonight's game... Teague gets the game ball. The Wolves might have been down and out without him early. He played very well. He deserves the credit.
Don't worry though. He'll go back to over-dribbling Jeff Teague soon enough and we'll all be able to rip him justly.
Re: Magic vs wolves
Very good come from behind win. The rotation guys played well. Okogie was out of control but put on great effort. Wiggins and teague kept us in the game early when the magic were red hot. Tolliver was great in his sting in the first half and the whole team pulled tru in the 2nd half.
like others, I like the switching defense. Its an effective way to guard against the 3 ball and we are one of the worst at defending the 3. We should do that regularly instead of the outdated ice defense.
I like how wiggins is attacking the last two games. He finished a couple of plays with his left hand tonight. Had a couple block and miss a few left handed layups. But it was nice to see him go left. Good win tonight.

I've been one of the other only lonely voices with support for Teague. In my opinion, he has the best balance of attributes in terms of scoring, facilitating, and defending. He's solid, always has been.
Also, it's not even close in my mind who the best point guard on this roster is. It's Teague and no amount of weird All-Star votes (Rose) or hometown love (Jones) can make me think otherwise.

Re: Magic vs wolves
There is no reason Teague can't adjust his game to take more 3's. Many, many, many other veteran players have been making this adjustment over the past few years and he's a good enough shooter that he should do the same. It would make our offense better and, as a side benefit, increase his value as a free agent.
Again, is this a coaching staff issue where they aren't emphasizing this enough or is it Teague stubbornly clinging to his way of playing? I don't know, but it's a problem either way.
Yes, last night he had a great game and deserves the game ball.

Re: Magic vs wolves
Fun game last night. Seems like every game I attend this year has the same formula...the Wolves come out flat and then turn it on in the second half. Fortunately a slow pre-game dinner got me to my seats just as a 40-point "defensive" quarter was ending, so I got to see the Wolves blow out the Magic 89-63 while I was there! This was unquestionably the best 3 quarters of basketball I have seen from this team this year...almost everyone was great, and Towns and Teague were a notch better. Thibs actually trusted his bench even though they were not nearly as effective as the starters ( no Wolf played more than 33 minutes), and did nothing that I would criticize. (Except for his awful language...I was only about 10 feet from him last night when he was roaming right, and his verbal reactions when the Wolves would miss a shot were even worse than usual). Anyway, good job Thibs...learn from this and trust your bench.
Glen was in Florida last night and was a rare absentee from his normal seats...I'm going to suggest he stay down there awhile! You can't diminish the significance of this win. The Magic were healthy and had won 3 of 4, including a 29-point win over Toronto, and the Wolves were missing their best defender and high-scoring 6th man. I certainly didn't expect the wolves to play 3 perfect quarters and win by almost 20.
The guy next to me told him how terrible we were in the first quarter on D, but all I saw the last three quarters was a motivated, swarming defense. Sure, Tolliver and Teague are limited in their defensive abilities, but teammates seemed to pick them up when they got lost on defense. Almost all threes were challenged...unusual for this Wolves team. Okogie doesn't need to take 9 shots (he only made two of them), but was a whirling dervish on defense...the kid is raw, but man is he fun to watch.
Teague was clearly our most effective PG last night...really nice offensive game from him. But the offense continues to be more fun to watch with Tyus running the point. But we don't win last night so easily without Jeff's offense.
We are watching something truly amazing in KAT as he continues to develop his already astonishing game...30/16.2/5.4 with 3.2 blocks in his last 5 games. When our two young stars KAT and Wig (he had that look in his eye that I haven't seen since the OkC game) play with intensity, this team revives my fading playoff hopes.
The only disappointment of the night was Biz Markie's halftime show...nothing worse than a fat, washed-up rapper with a bad sound system. But other than that, this was a special night.

Re: Magic vs wolves
It was ugly early on but the Wolves came alive while the Magic fell apart and the Wolves got a nice win. Tolliver is playing some pretty good minutes and doing it as mostly a wing. Teague was absolutely terrific.

I'm often defending Teague also. Having Tyus Teague and Rose is a good thing for the roster. Bayless wasn't as good the last couple games but he might be a serviceable guy for a few games which ain't terrible for the last option at that spot.
