Yeah, Tyus did not look good last night. The one big area he needs to improve is his shot making and it just isn't happening for him. He isn't going to blow by people, so being able to make crafty floaters, bankers, and jump shots is the only way he will be able to keep defenses honest.

Tyus seemed much better at making shots last season than he's looked so far this preseason.

Last year tyus usually had a shotmaker with him. This year, there isn't one on the bench, so there isn't as many wide open shots or lanes.

And this is where I will defend Thibs a little bit. Crawford was absolute poison to us in all the lineup combinations we saw in terms of +/-, but he was often the only guy that could create offense. How often would Tyus swing it to Crawford when the initial action didn't work. Crawford did all the dirty work of having to create something out of nothing, which often resulted in tough, contested shots.

That doesn't excuse Crawford's horrible defense, but offensively Tyus was left off the hook a bit because he'd rarely be the guy forced to create something. In the pre-season second unit we're seeing a lot more ball movement, but when sets don't work we don't have anyone that can create offense. Tyus needs to get better in this area.

Ideally, Rose would be coming off the bench and be able to help Jones in this regard. I don't love Rose whatsoever, but he is constantly looking for his own shot and at times does a good job of getting it off.

Agreed, although I fear he will be just as much of a liability as Crawford was on both ends of the floor. This is why I feel Tyus should start and then bring Teague off the bench to play with the 2nd unit and finish games. Teague is a legit scoring threat that can get way more freedom to create on the second unit and do so more efficiently than Crawford last year or Rose this year.

Thats why i feel okogie needs a shot with the starters during the last preseason game. He can focus on defense and the small things while not having to worry too much about creating offense. Let rose be the shot creator with the second unit.

At least until we see what we get in return for jimmy.

A couple thoughts before I read through this thread.

Wiggins had a number of good defensive possessions against Paul George. That's not new though. The problem is when PG get on another player and in transition. Some of that's on Andrew and some of it is on other guys.

Okogie and KBD are like some sort of weird separation of Wiggins physical gifts and adding in stuff he doesn't have. For Okigie he isn't as long and probably not quite as athletic but he plays his ass off and just does shit. Remember when Wiggins used to really force the issue on teams and draw fouls? He isn't doing that anywhere near as much as he used to early in his career. It's weird. Against lower level guys Okogie has enough juice to put guys in bad positions and get fouls. He is too strong and just skilled enough to take advantage. Okogie is flawed but he is the biggest reason I actually want to keep following this team.

Meanwhile KBD has the length Wiggins has and probably a bit more. He doesn't have the athleticism of Wiggins but he plays so smooth. He is a rookie so he has some spots where he flubs up but he is pretty skilled. He seems to know what he can do and for the most part do it.

I've been a Wiggins supporter for a while and Just watching these guys in this game really makes you stop and think about Wiggins when these guys seems to do more in some ways that Wiggins who is going into his 5th year and 1st overall pick Uber physically talented etc etc etc etc. KBD might not be quite physically gifted enough to guard perimeter players like Wiggins can when he is locked in but...I do admit to thinking about trading him to Sacramento for whatever we can get.

Which brings me to the next thing. The complaints about the offense it does make you want to see someone try and get the best out of guys even that Wiggins guy. Defense? Not so good either. It's just preseason and we are down our best player and haven't replaced him with anything. Obviously that's not enough of an excuse because we are playing teams sitting other worthwhile players. I've said so would be ok with firing Thibs and replacing him with someone else but nobody comes to mind. Ugh this is probably what a lot of Bucks fans felt like last year without jason kidd.

Hey look at the positives, we can start evaluating top 10 prospects for next years draft because we will definitely be picking there. We might even have two 1st round picks!!!

Do you recommend taking two wrong picks, or trading both to move up and take one really wrong pick?

Lol well done!
