GDT: Firing on all Pistons.
Re: GDT: Firing on all Pistons.
This is a complete shitshow 2nd half again. We need to begin putting some of this blame on Thibs. Defense is his game, right? How much of that should be be attributed to being an assistant coach of a prime KG Celtics team? A bulls team with a prime Noah and Deng? Both in an eastern conference that were garbage for most, if not all, of those years?
Im beginning to admit the negative effects of Thibs' over controlling aspect on our offense of young super athletic offensively gifted players. Why are we playing such a slow pace? Bad defense you might say? Isn't that defense exactly what the calling card was supposed to be?
Why are we playing so tight when every other team appears loose and free flowing?
My wife rarely watches with me but each time she comments, " why do we look so lethargic?" Maybe Thibs didn't learn as much as he eluded to on his year off. Maybe all he did was become more involved and controlling.

The problem is veterans hate Thibs. KG and all his former players didn't want to come here. And all of our starters are a year older than last year and Smitch got the team playing a lot better.

The 2 players who have taken a step back this year are KAT and Rubio, there's no way around it. Everyone else is either similar (gorgui and Wiggins) or improved (Lavine). I don't care who's fault it is, but if we're going to win we need more from Ricky and KAT every night. Ricky was good tonight and is maybe turning a corner. KAT hasn't had it.

Every Single Wolf is playing WORSE than expected, with the only possible exception of LaVine (but his defense is still atrocious).

I was listening to a Bill Simmons podcast and he said we are like a baseball team where we have 3 guys hitting over 300 (our big 3) but we have the team sucks. We have a bunch of great individual pieces but until they learn to play together as a unit both offensively and defensively this is what we will get
That is a job of a coach of young talent. Thibs was gifted a great hand of veteran/young mix in Chicago with a weak conference. I think most of us expected far too much. Personally, I wasn't a big hater of Mitchell, but I wasn't against a change either. I wanted an Ollie type first, but Thibs was also high on my wishlist. Its hard to argue that we are headed in the wrong direction at this moment.

May I suggest we stop with the corner talk? It appears to more like a bunch of pirouettes to me.

I agree 100%
I am a Thibs supporter and I would be just stupid to consider a small part is on Thibs. But with that said when do the players step up. When do we get a key stop or a key rebound. When do the players stop taking jump shots down the stretch and start moving the ball.
Thibs dosen't do the stupid long 2 and stupid hockey subs that sam did. I honestly think thibs has put us in the best position to win and the players have not responded. I mean sam Mitchell and Thibs have very similar temperament.
If you want to blame him for gm part I get that because they went bargain shopping.
I think us blaming thibs has more to do with us scared to admit that our young wolves might not get us where we need to be and that is scary as shit

Re: GDT: Firing on all Pistons.
Thibs is a dinosaur. He can't coach a young team or adapt to his players. He got lucky in Chicago as that team was perfectly suited for him. He needs to find a team of veterans and we should trade him ala Doc Rivers so we can get a more suitable coach.
