Re: Wolves Defensive breakdowns

Ultimately is it really so surprising that this team has defensive breakdowns? No. Why?
The wing defenders Wiggins and Lavine are actually pretty good in isolation it seems. Now once they have to deal with a screen or off the ball or...that has never been a strength although Lavine seems to have made strides as a help defender starting the 2nd half of last year. Towns for some reason seems completely lost in the team concept at times. On the flip side you have Dieng and Rubio who aren't the great athletes and have the physical gifts so sometimes they get beat but they are better team defenders and disruptive. Thibs talks about playing team defense and the 3 guys playing the most minutes...at this point that's their weakness. Can or will they improve? Probably. If Bazz can make progress to look somewhat worthwhile on that end those guys will probably figure it out.
One last thought on Wiggins. I'm a hustle guy I love guys that put forth the effort and so Wiggins frustrates me in this area. However I just never get the feeling from him he doesn't care or just doesn't get the game or won't get it. I watch him and I see a guy that's a legit basketball player. we don't get to see what kind of work he does in practice how focused he is on getting better. My guess is based on the info I have and what's thibs himself says about these guy is that Wiggins is plenty invested and does all the right things and then some. That doesn't mean he isn't flawed or that he is above critism I personally just have seen enough I believe the guy is gonna get there. It may take time but I also think because he is so gifted we can't step back we want to see him get it right now or yesterday. That makes complete sense. I'll stay patient and trust in his talent.
