If Flip is not good with taking Russell, Mudiay, or anyone else at 3 or 4, Denver or Sacto may be interested in moving up. The Nugz have the right to swap 1st round picks with the Knicks next year. How would a trade of WCS plus a pick swap with the Knicks for Russell/Mudiay look? Then again, I dont know if that swap is a tradeable asset or how the Wolves owed picks would affect it.

I will be devastated if we end up with WCS out of this draft. Even if we trade down. Only way it would make sense is if we got a really good young peace while trading down.

I still might not be at piece with that.

I am thinking a 2008 trade all over again, but honestly we don't win getting WCS. It would be someone else. WCS doesn't have the upside to be drafted in the top 10 in my opinion.

Geez, if this would devastate you, I can't imagine what the last decade has been like for you!
I'm not a huge WCS fan either. He definitely is intriguing from a defensive perspective, but if he projects as our eventual starting Center, you now have two guys in your starting lineup that can't create offense for themselves (Rubio and WCS). I also question his ability to rebound and defend stronger posts. He was actually kind of an anemic rebounder in college and I don't see that changing much at his age.
On the other hand, I can poke pretty big holes in almost every other prospect outside of Towns.
Russell - Questions about his defense, size, and athleticism. Can he defend 1s or 2s - could have problems with both.
Mudiay - Great, another PG that can't shoot. Just what we need!
Winslow - Not convinced his outside shot will hold up at the next level. He also plays the exact same position as two of our rising stars in Wiggins and Shabazz.
Okafor - Can he learn to defend? His rebounding is just OK-ish. Doesn't seem very fit. Would force a team to play an inside-out style of ball that has largely disappeared from today's NBA. If you don't play this way, you are wasting his #1 asset, so he sort of forces the coach's hand in the type of system that's implemented.
Frankly, Wildwolf's guy Hezonja might have the
least amount of holes in his size/athleticism/statistical profile. With him, it's more about question marks with his attitude.

Q, That is why I would be devastated with WCS. I think he will get pushed around a lot at the NBA level. Not a top 10 guy for me.
I think Towns might not have big holes, but he has a lot of little ones that would add up to big one. I think he might be the least proven of the top 4. Anyone else see the article on how the rotation that Cp ran last year it causing some recruiting issues this year. I worry he did it because Towns was not good enough to play 30 minutes.

Why won't you let me make fun of you in peace?

To defend the post you either need strength or length and WCS has length. Pek is stronger than most every center in the league and yet he can't play in the post against any kind of length because all of his shots get bothered. Also there are no teams with more than 3 guys who can effectively create their own offense out of nothing on the court at a time. WCS is a game changer in PnR defense which is the most used offensive play in the league because he combines great length with great quickness for a big his size to recover extremely well to bother shots. I just think people are really underestimating what he's going to be defensively in a year or two. He is basically Anthony Davis on defense in terms of his range and effectiveness on the court and I think we would all take AD's defense in a heartbeat even if the offense isn't there. You can always find guys who can give you offense, but there aren't nearly the available defensive specialists in the league. I don't get the devastated thought process. Position versatility is huge in today's game and he can guard multiple positions meaning you just have to find the right offensive counterpart to make it a formidable frontcourt.

Flip isn't that stupid. He will take BPA rather than reach for WCS in the top 4. He may decide that a center is a must. If so, he would surely trade down for him. At least, I think we can give him that much credit.

Yeah, I can't imagine a 66-loss team is reaching that far to fill such a specific need...
