Whose the worst coach right now in the West? Probably Scott with the Lakers, but then maybe George Karl? That's a big task for Mitchell, whose not really an X's and O's guy.

George Karl might be a HOF coach.
It was only two years ago, when he took a team nobody expected to be a legit contender to 57 wins. We all know his playoff resume... but for the regular season... dude has more than proven he's legit... light years ahead of a guy like Mitchell.

As for the other teams in the West... yikes. There's some crazy depth out there.

Houston is deep. The Clippers are crazy deep. GSW... damn. SA is who they are. OKC same. The Pelicans aren't taking a step back with a healthy Davis. Utah keeps getting better...

The wins will be hard to come by.

Grizzlies are a playoff team as well.

The Mavs, Blazers, Lakers, Nuggets, Kings and Suns are going to be the teams that are beneath us I think. I don't know how good we'll be, but I think there's plenty of wins to go around. It helps that the Blazers and Mavs took big steps back this off-season.

Mavs still have a lot of vet talent and a hell of a good coach.

The Mavs added D Will and Wes Matthews this off-season. How are they taking a big step back? They at least got Zaza to fill some of the hole left by Tyson.

D Will/JJ
Wes/Devin
Chandler/Anderson
Dirk/Ashley
Zaza/Dalembert

That's a veteran team with one of the best coaches in the league. I see them being pretty close to what they were last year.

Dallas lost Monta Ellis, Tyson Chandler, Amar'e Stoudemire, Al-Farouq Aminu and Richard Jefferson this off-season.

They replaced them with Deron Williams (old), Wes Matthews (Achilles injury), John Jenkins (unproven), Zaza Pachulia (solid but better off the bench), Justin Anderson (rookie) and JaVale McGee (Shaqtin-A-Fool Vice President).

You're telling me they won't take a big step back? I love me some Rick Carlisle, but you have to have players to win. That's an odd assortment of guys. Not to mention, Dirk's one year older. They're not making the playoffs, I'll tell you that much.

That's an interesting perspective on how the wolves rank when it comes to coaching in the west. Does anyone still double take when they here Billy Donovan as an NBA coach? No because he isn't worthy but yeah. It hasn't sunk in for me yet. Mitchell doesn't give much of an edge in the coaching dept that's for sure. I will be happy to be pleasantly surprised and I am higher on Mitchell than a lot of people but he also said he is coaching to develop players so yeah my win total probably should be lower but I'll stick with it because I'll have faith the good vets stay healthy enough to give us enough talent to win some games. Disaster could and will strike teams so who knows what will happen.

Depending on your roster Byron Scott ain't a bad coach. With him coaching the Lakers I don't think I would give him an edge over Mitchell because that's a whacky job to do over there.

I'll say 35 wins with a healthy Ricky Rubio.

Also, Karl-Anthony Towns will win Rookie of the Year. I also expect Nemanja Bjelica to be nipping at his heels.
