I know other pro sports organizations have hired guys to succeed etc but I can't think of many and I can't think of any that worked out well. Maybe their were.
Blatt is 55? Hmm that's not too young I figured he was more in his Mid-40's or so.

I think Flip taking the position tells me two things. The crop of coaches out there maybe wasnt impressive enough for him. Secondly maybe he wants to take the hands on approach for a year and see from the floor and lockerroom what this team needs goin forward. Next year he'll find his coach and spend all his energy cutting the fat and replacing it with youthful exuberance

So Flip's logic is, "I can't find a coach right now, but after 2 more years and 100 more losses, I'll be sure to have a long list candidates just waiting to coach this team?"
Can't they just sit out the season or something while they find new ownership?

The country club is getting put back together. Lowe is here. Mitchell is the new recruit. Jerry schting and randy witman aint far away. If mchale gets fired by the rockets, it wont surprise me if he somehow make it back in.

I agree with a lot of you even though I don't mind Flip as head coach. The choice of assistants so far is just ridiculous. I like Lip's description "parochial".

I don't understand the negativity towards this move. Flip was fine while he was coaching here, it's not like we're getting another Rambis. This move also guarantees our coach and GM will be on the same page, something we haven't had in years. The lack of cohesion between our coach and front office has annoyed me and I believe it has hindered player development. In my opinion this also helps the Love situation since Flip already has built what appears to be a good relationship with him.

If Love leaves it doesnt matter what the return is or who the coach is. The Wolves will lose alot of games but hopefully theres a long term plan in place. Lets face it, even with a star on the team the direction was a bit questionable.

It would seem strange to me if Blatt signed on as an assistant coach for Steve Kerr...where's the upside for him?
Blatt has turned down NBA assistant coaching offers before because he wants to be a head coach, and he's already 55. If there are no head coach offers for him now, what could be better than working for Flip, with a good chance of being HC in a year or two?

Blatt may have decided that the only way he gets a shot is being an assistant in the league for a couple years. Do you want to learn under Flip with a questionable roster or for Kerr with a nice roster and all that? his age makes me not so sad if we don't get him. Bring on Billups, Cassell or even Troy Hudson and some rap albums! lol
