I watched a bit of that Sixers game. I tried to watch a decent chunk because Embiid was in. Dude looked healthy although at one point he did look a little tired. He nailed a 3 and put on a bunch of moves on Adams that didn't result in a basket but the guy is big and mobile. Adams got the best of him at the other ends a couple times. Adams is a really good player. I was really skeptical Embiid would ever be healthy but I'm kinda really hoping and wanting him to do it I am curious what he can do.

Have you seen Embiid's usage? It was 37% or something in the preseason. It was like 45+% in his first NBA game.

The guy played only 22 minutes and took 16 shots!

Yep he was getting up a bunch of shots when I was watching. In fairness to him (to SOME extent) the guys he was playing win when I was watching weren't exactly good scorers. He also passed out of a double team once a terrific bullet pass to a wide open player at the top for a 3 which they bricked.

I didn't see any of it. In fact, I haven't seen him play since college.

But early indications are that he's legit. Let's say it all comes together and he stays healthy... are we embarking on a big man resurgence?

Anthony Davis. (his stat line was absurd in so many ways)
KAT.
Embiid.

Porzingis

Also just looked at the box score from that NO Nuggets game. Wow. Also Your "don't forget about him" guy Nurkic looks like was the best big for the Nuggets.

Yeah, Porzingis. I forgot about him. He's right in the mix, too.

As for Davis...

50 pts
16 reb
5 ast
7 stl
4 blk

IF he stays healthy... he might be right there with Harden and Westbrook for ridiculous stat lines this season.

Someone mentioned it the other day and I've been saying it for a few years: The NBA has never had this much talent and depth. I mean, just look at the singular performances we saw within the first couple of opening nights. LeBron, AD, Westbrook, Lillard, Harden....

The Lillard/Harden/Westbrook high-usage do-everything PG model seems to be a common theme in some of these elite performances, but boy, how do these teams compete if any of these guys go down for a 15+ game stretch?

We seem to be a bit more balanced with scorers on the wing and with the bigs, allowing for a more diversified attack and less dependency on a singular ball-dominant guard. And I think that will be the case even if Dunn fully blossoms and eventually pushes Rubio. He doesn't give off the vibe of an elite ball-dominant scorer either.

How do you leave Myles Turner's name out of this thread. He's a beast and based on last night's game, he might be better than Porzingis and Embiid. And Gobert and Whiteside aren't too shabby either.

And Anthony Davis has another ridiculous game. 45 pts, 17 reb, 3 assists, 2 blocks, 2 steals. Not quite yet Big Kat!

Effing Gasol hits a 27-foot 3-pointer to send Memphis to OT against the Wizards! Argh! These are the games where we could use a little help from our friends in the East.

Well, hopefully they'll still have tired legs when they play us on Tuesday. This is the 2nd night of a back-to-back on the road (they lost to the Knicks yesterday).

Fizdale wants Gasol to shoot FOUR three pointers per game this season...

It's a classic case where you have a guy that has been halfway decent hitting 18-20 footers throughout his career and a coach doing the simple math of moving that back a few feet for a more efficient shot.

But still...it SUCKS!

It looks like bringing Randolph off the bench was a nice move too.

Dammit, Washington craps the bed at home against Memphis on the 2nd night of a road trip back-to-back, as they win in OT.

I hope we don't end up like the Wizards - a team that for a few years now has been supposedly up and coming, yet seem to be stuck in neutral instead. I'm just not sure Wall and Beal are good enough to carry these guys. Hell, Westbrook is basically producing as much as these two guys are COMBINED! But that says more about about Westbrook than anything. That dude is amazing.
