Would you trade Wiggins for Harrison Barnes?

Barnes has that huge deal... but it's a player option after next season... and will still be less than Wiggins next year.

Probably not. You don't think he takes that option? Barnes is kind of similar to Wiggins in that Dallas has sort of made him a top offensive option, but he just isn't that great of a shot maker or play maker for others.

I agree. And yes... he's taking that $28M option or whatever it is.

But they are fairly comparable players right now. Some might even believe Barnes is better? The rub is whether you're willing to bet 5 years at $146M for what Wiggins could be vs. knowing exactly what you have with Barnes for only 2 years.

Basically if Wiggins doesn't improve far beyond what he's done in his first 4 years... Barnes might be the better option. It would definitely be considered a bailout move by the Wolves though. And would really bite this franchise if all Wiggins needed was a change of scenery to take off...

We became better as a team because we added Jimmy Butler and Taj Gibson.

This is true, still don't see why that makes Wig a bad fit. Maybe we have too many 23 year old world class players on our team that have averaged 20 points over 4 years? Or too many guys that are long and quickly becoming a defensive stopper?

He's not a world class player within the context of the NBA. He's average at best. He's inefficient with both his shot and his handle. Been like that for 4 years. He scores a lot because he's been spoon fed the ball and has the physical ability to get shots off. Not enough go in unfortunately. Actually making your shots, including free throws, matters in the NBA.

To be fair, I don't think the team as a whole is a great fit in terms of how Thibs constructed the roster, so sure, there are other people we could look to change out. I think Teague might be one of them. The reason I pick on Wiggins is because I don't believe he can fulfill his contract value and I think we still might be able to get a healthy return for him.

There might be a very fine line between "defensive stopper" and "adequate" or "decent."

I do think he has potential. And seems to have improved. But is there anything tangible to substantiate that he's remotely near elite?

Barnes turns 26 in a few days and you can make an arguement he actually regressed a bit this year.

I wouldn't disagree with that.

I still can't shake how much that guy flopped in the 2016 NBA Finals.

5 - 38 fg over the final three games of that series. Curry, James and many others will have their legacies analyzed over and over again... and that series will dictate a lot of that discussion...

When if you look at it... some second-rate player who wilted on the grandest of stages was the primary culprit for all of it.

He's not a world class player within the context of the NBA. He's average at bestYour opinion. Very few NBA minds share it. He's inefficient with both his shot and his handle. Been like that for 4 years. He scores a lot because he's been spoon fedDefinitely wasn't spoon fed this year, except when he was the only star on the court the ball and has the physical ability to get shots off. Not enough go in unfortunately. Actually making your shots, including free throws, matters in the NBA.Thanks for the education

There might be a very fine line between "defensive stopper" and "adequate" or "decent."

I do think he has potential. And seems to have improved. But is there anything tangible to substantiate that he's remotely near elite?

To me the line is fairly thick between adequate and stopper. He may not be a stopper yet, but he's playing damn good defense in this series.

Can you offer up tangible evidence to support this take?

No, can you offer up tangible evidence to support he's not? I mean other than some meaningless advanced stat that has no relevance in a small sample size?
