Boston with all of its draft picks and quite a few bigs on its roster will have to let some go. I think they keep Sullinger and Olynyk and probably Amir Johnson. They also may make a play for Dwight Howard or try to sign another free agent big. I'd take Ty Zeller or Jordan Mickey off their hands if they want to just give them away to create roster space.

Surprised we haven't talked about the rumor that surfaced earlier. Milwaukee reportedly turned down a Minnesota offer of Rubio and a 1st for Middleton.

I like Zeller at a reasonable price, but I have no interest in Mickey.

Zeller is a very decent backup. I really thought Mickey was as good as anyone in summer league, but that may not mean a lot. He's undersized, but has a good motor.

Sam knew exactly what he was doing. He wanted to send a message to those guys. The problem is he used a sledgehammer over their head instead of a little kick in the ass. I think that's how you lose a team of professionals.

This is the NBA. You don't throw games to teach lessons. Pop on several occasions pulls all his starters if they don't start off well, but he doesn't continue the punishment for the rest of the game to send a message. You still need those guys to win the game so you have to go back to them to close out the game regardless of how they started the game.

I don't know about Lowe's sources. I would bet they are Bucks based because AP guy heard nothing about a first round pick being offered by us and tweeted this:

"Bucks called several times that week trying to get Rubio. Each time they were told "Middleton has to be involved to have talks.."

He said he heard that from multiple people. I find it hard to believe a national guy has a better source than the local guy who talked to multiple people about the talks.

Wiggins on sitting second half: "If that's his plan, that's his plan. ... I played hard. I just think the game didn't go our team's way.''

1. If Wiggins' definition of playing hard is what we saw tonight, we have a serious problem.

2. Sam has completely lost this team.

I agree, Cam. Sam has lost this team. Actually, for the past couple months I've watched our players pretty much ignore Sam, looking away as he talks to them and sometimes seemingly rolling their eyes.

Rubio AND our 2016 1st round pick for Middleton? LaVine back at PG? I prefer to believe our front office is smarter than that. But then again...

We have this core of players with such great promise, but we have an owner actually contemplating the return of Sam Mitchell as the team's head coach with Milt Newton staying as PBO. We've already traded away a conditional 1st round pick for the knucklehead Payne - one of Flip's few really bad moves. I have this horrible feeling that Glen and his son-in-law CEO will somehow screw things up.
