So he went to Doc Rivers after practice and said, "I didn't sign up for this bullshit. Tell him (meaning KG) to back off or I'm out of here." Doc talked to KG and he did dial it down.

If Sam gets to a point where he thinks KG needs to tone it down, I'm sure he'll tell him. And I think KG respects him enough to honor his request. There is a point where KG's nonstop in your face chatter will wear thin with his teammates. Sam will have to monitor the situation and intervene at the appropriate time. For now, KG's intensity is probably a good thing for the development of these young guys and the team's culture.

I agree with this take. In Boston, Allen was another vet superstar going to that team. Here KG accomplishments stand apart. Hard ass coaches are always better for Young teams. That was why Mitchell was really successful in his Early Toronto years. It takes a different kind of approach as those players mature though. I think Mitchell too has likely learned a bit from that whole experience. I almost think with Flip out this team is a bit more interesting, only because this is a pure developmental year. But I could actually see Sam bringing this team to the overachieving side just through instilling passion and effort, more so than Flip influencing system basketball and decision making.

I will add that Ray Allen was an odd duck. Battier said he did nothing with the team off the floor.

Milt has liked more comfortable this offseason talking to the media etc. Flip really seemed to push him to the forfront last year at times in PCs etc. Flip clearly wanted Milt to feel comfortable doing more than staying behind the scenes. I trust Flip more than Milt but I am sure they have talked about every player that's in and out of the league going into this year. I don't see Milt as a guy that's going to start going rouge and doing crazy stuff and that's probably a very good thing.
