It's interesting. I think you make the Chicago deal, but you have to give them Martin if you are getting Gibson, Mirotic, Butler and two first round picks. Flip Gibson into the 8 pick because Gibson is a 10 mil a year guy which doesn't fit a rebuilding team. You then have 8, 13, 16 and 19. I think you keep Mirotic because he has some good frontcourt potential next to Dieng and Ronny as a stretch 4. You trade 8 and 13 to make sure you get Vonleh or Randle (might seem steep, but I think you have to get one of them if Love is gone and this guarantees that). You trade 19 to the Hawks for John Jenkins. You trade Pek to the 76ers for Wroten and 10. You take Saric at 10 and stash him. You take Warren at 16 to make sure you have enough guys on the team that can get you buckets. You see if anyone takes JJ off your hands or tell him to stay at home. Then you have:
Ricky/Wroten/Shved
Butler/Jenkins/Brewer
Bazz/Warren/Bud
Vonleh/Mirotic/Saric
Dieng/Ronny
That team is loaded with young talent. It lacks a scoring punch on the first unit, so it's time to see what Bazz can do with some additional volume. We will have one of, if not the best defensive backcourt in the game with Ricky and Butler along with Dieng protecting the rim. You could swap Vonleh and Randle if you want more scoring potential. I prefer Vonleh because he is going to be able to do everything at the 4 whereas Randle is mostly a scoring punch at the next level. Warren and Wroten with Mirotic and Jenkins stretching the floor should be a balanced second unit. I think the biggest problem with that team would be whether or not they cost enough to hit the salary floor.

Problem there is I don't see a "star" type guy and two prospects stashed overseas that probably don't want to play for the Wolves. If we draft Vonleh I think we can keep Pekovic and allow Dieng to grow into starting minutes while keeping Pek's minutes reasonable to reduce chance of injury.

If we are trading Love, I think you have to get rid of Pek. He makes too much money for a rebuilding team. If you can get a backup PG with tons of potential and a top 10 pick for him, I think you do it. I would honestly do that trade with Love still on the team if they would take it. I wouldn't judge that group on stardom before they play though because we really have no idea for most of them. If Vonleh is the next Bosh, then there is an All-Star. If Ricky can learn to finish at the rim, he is an All-Star. If Dieng drops 15, 15 and 3, then he is a borderline All-Star at a weak position. We have no idea how good Mirotic and Saric are going to be in the NBA, but they certainly have unique skill sets that could make them all-stars. If Saric and Mirotic aren't potential stars, then I see no reason why they wouldn't come overseas to play for a team that has been very generous to the foreign crop of players in this league. We have their rights, so I'm not sure what options they have other than request to be traded which just results in more 1st round picks for us because that is what they are worth. Not to mention, the team would be young and probably struggle in the tough West leading to high draft picks that could net the stars needed to go with them in future drafts. You're not going to get multiple star quality players out of one draft on the same team unless you strike gold with a steal like Ibaka. Not many teams get those steals, so you get the young assets you can in this draft and potentially use them in the future to get better assets.

I know I posted this in other boards but
Trade
Love Budinger for Sullinger Bass Bogans 6, 17, '16 '17 BKN Picks
If we trade Love I want to get rid of as many contracts holding us down in the future so...
Trade
Martin Pek Jason Richardson (expiring) to NO
Anderson Gordon to PHI
Thad Young 17 to SAC
8 10 Jason Terry (expiring) to MN
We then have 6, 8, 10, 13
We could package those to move up or
6 Randle/Smart
8 Gordon/Vonleh
10 Stauskas/McDermott
13 Lavine
Rubio Lavine
Smart Lavine
McDermott Brewer Bazz
Bass Vonleh
Dieng Sullinger
Or
Rubio Lavine
Stauskas Lavine
Gordon Brewer Bazz
Randle Bass
Dieng Sullinger
I love a Smart/Rubio/Lavine Or Rubio\Stauskas/Lavine Backcourt

I'm pretty sure if Mirotic doesn't come over by 2018, he gets to re-enter the draft. Not sure if that changes if his rights are traded, but I don't see why it would. Saric's been a bit of a diva prospect. Pulled out of last year's because of the team he might get drafted by. Seems like he wants the fame and lights. I know Rubio had that same talk around him, but their personalities seem different.

What do you guys think of McDermott, He would be my number one guy who we could realistically draft, over Stauskas and Harris. I know he is older but I think he is going to be an offensive beast

I think his floor is Kyle Korver and I think that is pretty darn good. Won't be there at 13 though

I like him, but not over Stauskas.

I know it won't happen but if we could get McDermott and Stauskas in this draft I will be so happy, having three guys who could knock down threes (Martin, Stauskas, McDermott) with rubio would be sick

Cam- do you honestly believe that Mirotic would wait until he is 27 to re-enter the draft just to not play for the Wolves? That seems far fetched to me. Ricky came over to the Wolves, so why wouldn't these guys? When is the last international guy you heard of who was drafted in the first round and then proceeded to wait and re-enter the draft because he didn't like the team who drafted him? These situations just don't happen and yet you talk about them like there is no chance they would stoop so low as to play for the team that is going to pay them millions of dollars to play basketball. Ricky was considered a diva (or at least his dad or agent made him come off that way) and he is here playing for the Wolves and I don't hear him complaining about being here. I don't think your worries about them are realistic because they just don't happen.
