I like the way the roster is constructed now, so I am not sure if paying a max deal to Bledsoe is the way to go as it might mean we can't also resign Ricky and Thad.

I think the plan would be to have both Ricky and Bledsoe in the same back court.

I can't see the Warriors offering him the max straight up. I can, however, see Flip throwing the max at Thompson and getting him to sign, essentially putting pressure on Golden State to match. Would they match? Or would they play it like Houston and let their young player leave? As soon as they matched, they'd be close to luxury tax level I believe with no way to significantly improve their team. Who knows, though. And that's why I brought it up.

What I'm saying is Klay doesn't want to come to Minnesota. He will have other options.

Okay. I can say the same about Bledsoe. Now the conversation gets boring.

If you recall what Father Mychal was saying during the rumors of Klay being traded, you can reasonably conclude he is not an option for us. At this point I have no idea what Bledsoe's thoughts might be. But he sounds like a guy who is all about the $$, no matter where it is.

I don't recall Klay saying anything. His loudmouth father didn't want to see his son play in Minnesota. I digress on this one, though, as I named a handful of guys that could be targetted.

Im sort of in the middle regarding this news. Bledsoe is a very good. Is he a max player? Thats debatable but he is a player I would be willing to risk and give max money to and see if he can earn it. He is definitely good and skilled enough to be a max player so it is a good risk to take.

The thing that makes me unsure about this is what happens with rubio? It seems to me that this would probably mean rubio wont get max money and is not untouchable. Im a big rubio believer so this might be me thinking about this in a personal manner but I do believe rubio will be very good, having bledsoe at max money may make him expendable down the line especially if a team throws big money on him next summer. A rubio-bledsoe backcourt will be fun and exciting nonetheless.

I dont think pek will be involved in a trade. yes, he makes the most money to match salary but the suns have plumbee and len they are developing at center and pek is still on the books for 4 more years. It might be a combo of martin-brew-turiaf or martin- bud-turiaf. Suns needs wings with size and they are set at center with plumbee and len. turaif( I hate to lose him) gives them a vet to mentor their young centers.

Klay didn't say anything but his dad said he would have to talk Klay off the ledge if he got traded to the Wolves. I don't see Klay leaving GS unless they decide not to give him the max and things could get ugly. The Wolves without Love might not have looked too great but maybe after a year were we play around .500 ball and Wiggins looks like a star and Rubio looks like a fun PG to play with maybe it gets more interesting. I'm just sayin not even remotely getting my hopes up. Hopefully young guys look good enough after this year we aren't chasing big FAs.

I don't really have a lot of desire at this point to give up anything of significant value (including Pek) to get a young player like Bledsoe when that could mean another logjam for playing time. We have so much young talent and we don't know how everything will fit. However if Bledsoe really is out there for the taking like I said in another thread I'd be interested in finding out what it would take to get him. I just don't see what we would have the Suns would want. Maybe find a 3rd team? I just don't think its gonna happen.

Bledsoe has had one half of a good season. No way I offer him a max deal, and definitely don't send anything significant back in a deal. If you are going to drastically overpay (which I think is the case here), you do in FA. Hopefully Flip was just feeling out Bledsoe's camp for next summer.

I think Rubio is the better player. Rubio has been playing against starters for the majority of his games to this point, whereas Bledsoe was coming off the bench until last season. Bledsoe has struggled staying healthy, which makes this too big of a risk IMO.

If we moved Pek or some of our undesirable contracts like Bud in the deal, I might be more open, but it still feels like a huge overpay.

It's time to get creative here. Wiggins is off the table, but I would throw Lavine into the mix. Bledsoe might be a bit overpaid at the max but he's a player the Wolves don't have: someone who wants the ball in the end and can create his own shot.

Anybody think they threw this out there as a way to let Bledsoe know he has a place to play when he becomes un-restricted next year? I like Rubio and Bledsoe together a lot. That's a get dirty back-court with a lot of heart.

some people need to come to terms with Rubio's shortcomings as a player...he will likely always be a 4th or 5th scoring option on the floor

I think the combination of Rubio & Bledsoe would make a great tandem to "win now" (compete now is more fitting) and to build together going forward. Let's face it the wolves are going to have to take some chances on FAs because we are not a premiere destination. The "Max" designation for Bledsoe seems s bit steep for a guy without a ton of time as a starter & with an injury history, but I say go for it.
