He's played enough now to consider him as an option, but in no way has he played enough to get this much praise for his game. It's crazy how reactive some of you are to one game and then you make reaches like saying he was this in college and that's what he'll be in the pros. He's a 6'6 SF who has one post move that works on this level and people are talking like he is already a prolific scorer. Watch Durant and Melo play. That is what a prolific scorer looks like.
Aren't you doing the same thing after one game saying he only can score on one post move, I am not overreacting he had a good game and he needs consistent Minutes to see if he is a good option or not

I don't think ANYONE has compared him to KD or Melo. Those are superstar players and either of them could be the best scorer in the league. As for your argument about him having only one NBA move, it's still too early to say that. He hasn't gotten enough meaningful minutes. By meaningful, I mean when the game isn't a blowout for either team. Until last night, almost all of Shabazz's PT came when the game was already decided. Not fair, in my opinion, to judge anyone in that circumstance. His college games are still the best history to judge off still because of the lack of NBA PT.
Wes Matthews is 6'5, 220. Shabazz is 6'6, 225 max. Equal-sized players and Shabazz's move worked. Does anyone rip K-Love when he hits a baby hook over Griffin or Randolph? Negative. A bucket's a bucket any way you score it.
"Just because the current options are bad doesn't just make him a good option automatically." You're right, but if the other options are bad, shouldn't the team look to see if a better option is available? If Shabazz is that, which he just might be, what's the reason not to give him a try? Because khans and whoever else didn't like the draft pick? Not a good enough reason.

I don't disagree with Khans that Muhammad was only scoring on one move last night, but I reject his conclusion that one night of meaningful minutes proves he only has one scoring move. Instead, I would argue:
1) He was unstoppable with that move last night, so why try anything else? My only criticism of Shabazz last night (offensively or defensively), came when he started hanging around the 3-point line. If you have proven that you can't be guarded, stay on the block!
2) Most of his minutes were paired with JJ, hence his terrible +/- that cool pointed out in this thread. If you're on the court with JJ and your first name isn't Dante, you better be able to create your own shot. Shabazz deserves some minutes with a true facilitator like Rubio in order to expand his game.
3) Even though I took issue with Muhammad trying (and missing) his two 3-point attempts, he was quite successful from 3-point range in college. As I pointed out earlier in this thread, his 3-point percentage compares favorably with two guys who get a lot of positive reviews for their long-distance game on this board...McCollum and Budinger. I'm guessing that not many know that CJ's and Muhammad's career 3-point percentages are identical, and Shabazz was playing against much better defenses.
Let's hope Adelman doesn't use Muhammad's two missed shots before he got yanked, along with very good but rare offensive games by Corey and Bud, as excuses to bury him on the bench again. I believe he can be a huge contributor either as our starting SF or off the bench.

He doesn't really score anywhere or anyway else other than on the block and the FT attempts resulting from that one move. At the end of the day, his offense doesn't come within the flow of the offense. It comes as a black hole, ball stop. It works when he is the only scorer on the court like he was often tonight, but I don't think we should be shutting down the offense just to get him the ball. He still is not a good jump shooter, so he is a post up specialist who doesn't do much else for you. I think Adelman played him at the right time and pulled him at the right time tonight. At the end of the day, we have no business beating Portland missing 3 out of 5 starters. It was a good effort and hopefully it allows them to keep their heads up and keep the energy up going into the next game.
Deal with it. If Flip didn't know this when he drafted Shabazz then God help us all.
Flip on when he drafted Shabazz...
"I've been very critical of him and I told him that when he came in here (for a workout)
It's not a popular pick, but that's why you have to take the picks that you think are value picks at that time," Saunders said. "He was the guy that we had rated highest at that time."
So yeaaa maybe Flip DID know. The elephant in the room is that Flip was too chicken to draft Burke because he didn't want to get ripped by the media by drafting ANOTHER PG, just like Khan. Flip cares more about PR then the team

Really odd comments by Flip...I didn't think he handled himself very well with the press around draft time.
I see a lot of love for Burke on this and other boards, and I just don't get it. I liked him in college, but I always saw him as a mid-teen pick at best. He's an undersized guard who's only shooting 37% for the season. And he's going in the wrong direction...29% FG% and 25% on threes his last five games. I can't see how a guy with those numbers is a better choice than Muhammad (all-time Pac-12 freshman scoring leader) and Dieng (a prolific shot blocker on the national champions). Seems like a no-brainer to me.

Sorta to summarize.......if he was only doing 1 thing right.......atleast he was doing 1 thing right.

Yep, but also that he has other ways to score if the situation requires it...just wasn't necessary last game.

He got 2 minutes of burn last night? We should start him until Martin comes back. We need the offense.
