A couple things.Wolvesfan21 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 4:10 pmThey were division favorites? That's news to me because I know they got worse in the offseason. Though the division wasn't exactly good either. I'm a VERY casual baseball fan though so I wouldn't know those things about other teams!AbeVigodaLive wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 2:38 pmTo be fair... the Twins were supposed to win the division. The O/U was 86.5. The next team was 80.5.Wolvesfan21 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 10:03 am
Just a small rebuttal, The Twins were "preseason" suppose to be terrible. They played way above their heads for a couple months then came back to who they were suppose to be.
They didn't cover that and failed to meet expectations.
1. Teams have to weather injuries and the Twins did to some extent but then it caught up to them. They were supposed to have a deep pen but for one thing a couple guys never even pitched this year because of injury. None of their vet shot gambles paid off and that's something they have usually been able to do is find one worthwhile guy and it didn't happen.
2. The Twins epically collapsed but the Tigers also won their playoff spot. I remember like a couple months ago texting my brother and saying it must be fun to be a Tigers fan. They sell off some guys and now they are winning. They kept on winning. They did what the Twins should have done but couldn't. The whole twins season was a roller coast of up and down... Until the end when it was just down.
3. The good news for the Twins is they do have quite a bit of young talent and aren't currently hampered by any terrible contracts. Hopefully a new ownership group might be willing to put some more money into the roster. Until that happens if they are gonna have a limited payroll why not lean into it and go pretty young?
