Gloom and doom here, and I get it...the KAT trade (which I supported) looks very bad right now. But...

Let's look at what is really happening here: we said it last year, and it's just as true this year...maybe even more so. When Daddy doesn't play, the Wolves lose. Our maturity level skyrockets when he is available, and plummets when he is in street clothes. It's no surprise to me that we are 8-5 when Mike plays, and 0-4 when he sits. Small sample size, but we have all last year to reinforce the point also. 8-5 by the way is a 51-win pace, about what many of us predicted this year. 0-4 is a little worse.

So, oddly I'm feeling some optimism this morning. A sprained toe is not a serious injury, and Mike will be back soon. And the silver lining is that we may have found our backup PG, and our PG of the future. I know +/- is a hated stat here (although it's often the first thing Ant looks for post-game when he gets the stats, but what does he know), but I can't ignore the fact that Rob was an extraordinary +26 in his 24 minutes last night, after finally having a positive game against the Celtics Sunday. (for the other side of the coin, take a quick look at Randle, Divo, Jaden and Ant...all who took turns pissing me off last night). Most of us here would have preferred Reed Shephard to Rob if we could have moved up further in the draft, but despite sporting an excellent porn star mustache, he hasn't shown anything close to what Rob has shown the last two games. Tom Crean said this summer that Rob might need a quarter of the season to get his footing, but that he would be terrific...he (and many of you here) may be right about him. I'm ready to see him start getting regular minutes.

A little sunshine on a dark morning for our below .500 Wolves...
