Wolves in clutch time this year:
When Conley plays in clutch time: 5-2
When Conley doesn’t play in clutch time: 1-6
Yeah...and we know Conley isn't going to be here forever. Our hope is that Rob can have a similar impact.
Wolves now 12-7 in games Conley plays, 0-4 when he doesn't.
Such a damning statistic. We still need Daddy around to avoid selfish behavior and general chaos. It's like the incivility unleashed in Lord of the Flies until the naval officer arrives on the scene.
I guess maturing into a leader is a non-linear process that has its ups and downs along the way. Ant's leadership is largely responsible for the turnaround we've seen of late as well as creating the separation needed in Friday night's game to close out Golden State. Then he regresses back to hero-ball as Finch is questioned for giving Ant a chance at showing he doesn't need an adult in the room to help supervise him in crunch time. Patience I guess.....
- I've been very good at avoiding learning the score before my DVR watch. I accidentally saw the score before watching last night... so I'm gonna skip watching it.
- But why let it ruin posting a few opinions...
- OMG!!! J. Randle is so lazy on defense. Burn him at the stake!
- OMG!!! Edwards is the most immature player in the NBA and it's not even close.
- WTF!?!??! Why can't Rudy Gobert catch a pass or make an offensive move?
- CMON!! Jaden McDaniels is so overpaid. He's regressing.
There are a number of other woulda-shoulda-coulda moments in the game.
- Steph and Buddy were pretty amazing with their 3-point shooting. That by itself could be tough to overcome.
- NAZ and DDV continue having shooting woes from beyond the arc. Outcome might have been different had they come to the table.
- ANT goaded Finch into a coach's challenge that was destined to fail, thus losing the ability to challenge REAL ref errors later in the game.
- Fucking Curry goaded Zarba and crew into a foul against Jaden. Twice! Each time he was next to Jaden, hit Jaden with his forearm and dove to the floor. Refs kindly obliged with a whistle. Do they still fine players for flopping?!?
Anyway, there are so many little things that would have never created the crunch time situation that ANT failed at. So the good news is, the Wolves are still a very good team, and ANT can continue to learn from his failures.
If you step back from last night's disappointment, we should be pretty happy taking 2 out of 3 on the west coast. It's just tough to watch the crunch time flaws rear their ugly head again.
