Q mentioned Josh Okogie to me Clark is a better defender and Okogie even with his flawed offense is still a worthwhile NBA player. I'd be pretty happy to get a better defending Okogie with a late 2 round pick. The key will be to figure out what we have this season to decide how much to pay him next offseason.
I don't think you can play Clark with every lineup if his 3pt shot is say 30%. If he's out there with Rudy and Jaden, that's going to be rough spacing wise on offense.

Lively is the best comparison ive had also, since seeing his first game the other day. I just didn’t mention it yet, because I think he might have a higher ceiling than Lively (not that I even watched Lively this year, just going on what I saw in the WCF)
Oh, the ceiling is higher for Joan. He first touched a basketball 4 years ago. He's going to be sick.
Exactly what I was going to say, Cool. Great hands; excellent athleticism, length and strength. As an 18 year old, he’ll still get much stronger. What’s going to make him special is adding his basketball IQ to all of those other high-end attributes. He has that Neo processor in that he sees and processes the game faster than those around him. Bird had it and that’s what make his an hall-of-famer in spite of his lack of speed and athleticism. Jokic is a more current example. And at age 18 with only 4 years of basketball behind him, Joan’s in the very early stages of developing his Neo processor. I don’t need to see the Oracle; I already know Joan is the One. :).
I only caught parts of the 2nd half last night, but I saw a couple insane catches and also a couple crazy rebounds. I’m scared to say how good this kid can be. Like they were calling him Tyson chandler on the broadcast and I think that’s selling his ceiling short too. I’m scared to say some of the great players that he reminds me of in different ways. Freak athlete in a 7 foot frame, with high IQ and seems to have a focused mentality. If you could buy stock in players, this is the one guy that I would invest in. I’m just gonna say it, there’s a real chance that we nabbed the best player in this draft at 17.

I also liked what I saw last night from Rocco! This guy looks like he could be in the rotation in a couple years. Very nice pick TC!

Yeah but good luck to the other team on scoring! For this coming season I have very little worries on offense since I think he can do enough as a shooter and with his high BBIQ. The question will be will it be enough when he gets that raise in FA whatever it might be.

After game 1 I was excitedly texting my brother about Beringer and he asked what kind of player he was. I wanted to highlight his athletic ability so I said a bigger stronger young Marcus Camby.

My thinking is the same as yours on this, Loser. The Tyson Chandler comparison might turn out to be the right one but right now I agree it’s setting Joan’s ceiling far too low. Like you, I’m afraid to mention any of the comparatives in my head right now. If he can develop a highly reliable mid-range shot as I think he will while also building on the skills we’ve already seen, then we won’t be thinking Chandler or Camby anymore.

He's performing well right now on athletic ability and instincts. Wait until he develops some real NBA skills. The KAT jump hook would be a good place to start.

I agree with you and others that his ceiling is way higher. I'll say this though a bigger version of Marcus Camby that stayed healthy would be a pretty good player.

Flagg is being shut down after a big game. I wonder if we shut down TSJ, or let him keep playing, work on his playmaking, and building more chemistry with the other young players.

It may also depend on if there are any other players on the summer league roster that they really want to get a look at. I think it was last year they didn't go far beyond their rotation till the last game or 2. This SL they know way more about TSJ and Clark (who was coming g off an injury) or even a guy like Edwards now than they did then. Dillingham needs reps and hasn't absolutely killed it so he is gonna keep playing.

Marcus Camby, Clint Capela, Tyson Chandler, Derek Lively II.....All good comps for Beringer if his offense doesn't evolve much beyond dunks and the occasional close jump hook. Frankly, any of those outcomes would be a wildly successful 17th pick and a defensive anchor for many years to come. He fills such a big need with Rudy gradually aging out!

What we don't know is what he's been working on behind the scenes offensively and whether he can eventually develop into a scoring threat without having to be assisted. It's not something I'm counting on happening, but he's so young still that you just never know.
