If we trade for a guard it's probably not going to happen until January at the earliest when both Naz and Randle become trade eligible. I would trade Naz and 2nd round picks for Nemhard in a heartbeat if that was possible.
"Nembhard, 25, is a 6'4" playmaker who's currently averaging 18.3 points, 6.4 assists, 1.6 rebounds, 0.8 steals, and 1.9 three-point field goals made per game. He's shooting just 34.5 percent from beyond the arc, but that's up 5.4 percent from 2024-25 and contenxtualized by Indiana's horrid team play.
It's also worth noting that Nembhard is shooting 43.5 percent on catch-and-shoot threes, which would likely be a significant source of his offense in Minnesota.
Nembhard's greatest appeal is that he's an elite defender who locked down top-tier players during the 2025 NBA Playoffs. He forced Damian Lillard to shoot 23.1 percent from the field, Donovan Mitchell to convert 23.2 percent of his attempts, Jalen Brunson to shoot 38.2 percent, and reigning MVP, Finals MVP, and scoring champion Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to convert at 38.3 percent."
Sadly when I go Indiana's reddit page they are fully focused on the draft and getting a top 5 pick and absolutely salivating at the thought of drafting Cam Boozer of Duke to replace Myles Turner. In which case they wouldn't need Naz Reid on their team.
Since we aren't going to make a trade for at least another 6 or so weeks, we should just start Rob and see what it looks like. The extra firepower of having Donte coming in fresh with Naz would really help that bench unit. Naz badly misses playing with NAW and Donte fresh off the bench.

James Harden?
Jrue Holiday?
LaMelo Ball?
Ja Morant?
And who are you giving up? NAZ and Donte?
I would probably be looking more in that lower to mid tier range. How about a Dilly for Tre Jones? Might be selling low on Dilly but Chicago can play him and wait for his upside. Can we get a couple seconds rounders too? Tre can play right now with limited upside, but he's solid.
Maybe DDV for Coby White? Whites a FA so Bulls may be fine taking on DDV's favorable longer term deal.
Would Coby White or Tre Jones make this Wolves team a championship contender??
I think both likely would be better fit for our roster right now. OKC is on Dynasty trajectory while the Wolves are 10-8, so it's highly unlikely we or really anyone else beats them. We can compete, but win a series is a real long shot.
The issue with Dilly is he looks 2-3 years away from maybe being a good NBA player, and it's still a maybe. So I wouldn't be against trading him for someone who is reliable right now. Do we really want to wait years to see if he develops. However the upper end of the Dilly outcomes and he become a near great player. I think that looks like a slim chance though, so I might sell low and take the sure thing right now.
There are a few others in that 7-10 mill range also besides Tre, I thought he'd be easily attainable as the Bulls are not really doing anything. You get a couple second rounders and a now upgrade? I think I'm willing to do that.
I do get the argument that non of these lower end guys move the needle much. Coby White could be interesting. I think he's a good player (TWolves killer) and better fit then DDV (better handler and passer), but however he is a FA after this season. So risk involved for sure.

i like Nembhard too, cypress, but what happens to our rotation if we trade Naz for him? I guess Nembhard takes away Shannon's minutes, and our bigs rotation becomes Rudy, Randle, and..................Leonard Miller?

Sell high (Julius Randle ), Buy low (Ja Morant).
I have grave reservations about Ja Morant. But you’re spot on with your value proposition.
Reservations are justified Lip, but I’d still consider it.
Go back a year and we were discussing how to dump Randle for cap relief in fear of him taking up his team option. Now he’s considered a bargain at 31 mil. That’s my point. Now would be the best time to trade Randle, his value will never be higher.

There is a growing sense that the Timberwolves will sell high on Julius Randle should the right star become available, per @BrettSiegelNBA

I just don't see how Morant is a good fit next to Ant. He shoots a career 31% from 3P land which is just trash and lots of those are WFO. IF he shot the 3P well I'd be all in, however teams can just leave him open and it does little to help Ant and the offense spread the floor.
Sure he's a great handler, passer and midrange guy, just not right for us imo. I think he'd be a big downgrade from Ju honestly because of the bad shot. Ju can shoot the 3P much better (he's been solid for us) and we still need size just from a personnel standpoint.

I saw that, Kek. i don't know much about Siegel, but he looks about 12 years old! Gotta wonder if he's just making it up, because I don't know how connected he is. I'm never opposed to any deal that makes us better, but I'm completely with Lip that I hope we stay a million miles away from Morant. I also have the same question I posed to rap if we move Randle (or Naz) for a guard...what will our big man rotation be? Are we really ready for Leonard Miller time? Maybe, I don't know.
I'm a little concerned about Randle currently...after mostly A performances most of the season, he's had three poor games in a row. If he doesn't pick it up, we won't have a player to "sell high".

Completely agree...where Ja fits best is next to the stage at a strip club

. He seems to be a guy who is guilty he grew up with some privilege compared to more inner city black players, and is trying to develop some thug cred. He's now had a problem with two different coaches in his short career...coaches with very different personalities. Does anyone really think Chris Finch is the coach who can finally handle him? I don't think so.

Both Ja and LaMelo have some bad injury history as well. I don't think either would be a wise move.
My top target is Jrue Holiday. His age makes him a short-term fix, but he is a two-player with recent championship experience. And unlike the others mentioned, a 3rd team is not needed to complete a trade. Something like Randle and Bones for Jrue works starting 12/15. Naz and Donte for Jrue also works, but cannot be done until 1/15.
I'm not worried about filling the backup PF minutes. We have plenty of bodies to throw at those minutes, plus that kind of player is more easily found on the open market if needed.

I'd even gamble on his immature behavior and act if he was a better player. He's also small and has lost some of his burst I think he had due to injuries and just wear and tear, he's been beat up going to the rack so many times. He's a instagram player versus winner. Regressed as a player versus Ant who keeps making improvements.
31% career shooter from 3P land. I simply can't have that playing with Ant. Thats really for me the bottom line. By now he should have developed a 3P jumper, too many strip clubs I suppose!
People complained about Rubio bricking 3's and he ended up at 32%. Both are obviously given that shot too, like I said WFO.
