ESPN panel today talking about the draft. At 25:50 in the video they asked about guys in the 17+ range a sleeper candidate that could be top 10 player in the draft. Bobby Marks brought up Philon saying he will probably go earlier than 17, but said he really likes him in that next group. Fran chimes in after that and say's he thinks Philon could end up being the best point guard in the draft.

If the age of a facilitator PG are dead and we want ball handling and second side scoring then Philon indeed looks like a special kid. Let’s hope it works out and we didn’t blow it by letting the kid post that photo….or maybe he posted it to make sure someone else saw the wolves hand cause he doesn’t wanna sit on the Finch bench for two seasons

Re: 2026 draft
ESPN updated mock has us taking Baba Miller with our newly acquired pick 33 and passing on Karaban, Jack Kayli and Richie Saunders
Doing the standard highlight package skim I can see the vision. Baba is an exciting rim crashing rebounding athletic near 7 footer. Would be nice to round out the front court rotation with Joan and Baba. Fun to say anyways. Joan to Baba, out to Ayo the old JoanBabaAyo connection!
It also had Philon falling to 26 to Denver so maybe his visit was due to some predicted slippage or maybe it’s just causing the experts to think he’s slipping…anyways I am feeling less likely that we are actually targeting the Philon kid or we would have stayed at #28.
Classic TC, makin moves and maybe just spinning his wheels.

If we keep the pick, Jack Kayil wouldn't surprise me. If Donte wasn't injured I could have seen Richie Saunders who tore his acl in February .BeenLurkin wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2026 3:22 pm ESPN updated mock has us taking Baba Miller with our newly acquired pick 33 and passing on Karaban, Jack Kayli and Richie Saunders

Re: 2026 draft
I still think we were targeting Philon but as a contingency. I have no doubt the Randle deal was a first step to set up subsequent alternative deals intended to improve the team either in the short or long term. I suspect that Philon remains one of those contingencies since it won’t be too hard to trade up from 33 to 25. But I also suspect Philon isn’t TC’s first contingency plan. He likely has other trade targets in mind ahead of him — maybe White, Suggs, Tre Murphy, or Dejounte Murray - using the trade exception or Rudy.BeenLurkin wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2026 3:22 pm ESPN updated mock has us taking Baba Miller with our newly acquired pick 33 and passing on Karaban, Jack Kayli and Richie Saunders

Re: 2026 draft
High cap teams likely value #33 more than #28 so I wouldn't be so quick to assume trading up is now out of the question. Curious what teams like OKC does with their mid to early 20s picks.BeenLurkin wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2026 3:22 pm ESPN updated mock has us taking Baba Miller with our newly acquired pick 33 and passing on Karaban, Jack Kayli and Richie Saunders

Re: 2026 draft
Technically, we don't own the 33rd pick until after July 1st when the trade is consummated. Trading a pick you don't actually own seems a bit... odd.

Re: 2026 draft
Agreed it is odd. Phoenix did it last year in the Durant trade, traded a 2nd round pick they got from Houston to us for the 31st pick and than it got included into a 7 team trade after the draft.
Re: 2026 draft
Yeah it's odd, but we see teams do it most years, especially in the draft. Like how many times have the Wolves have made pick swaps in succession on draft night lol.
That said, I would say it's stupid how the NBA structures the off-season. Come draft day teams should at the very least be able to trade their picks with no restrictions so they can stop drafting players only to trade them weeks later. Would probably make sense for them to just make Monday of draft week the start of the new league year even if Free Agency isn't for another couple weeks.

Re: 2026 draft
despite the fact that we don't own the pick, I'm in BK for the draft tonight.
Should be fun.
Hopefully we don't sell any picks tomorrow.
