Nothing says the Vikings can't still go get Tyler Johnson in the 3rd or 4th ;)

I hope they get him today.

I don't love his potential as a center fielder which is what we use Harris for to let Harry play all over the field.

Honey badger isn't very big and he has had a heck of a career. I WANTED Winfield Jr but I figured they weren't going to take a Safety high enough to get him after the first round picks happened. Winfield picked of Brady in 2001 which is surprising partly because Winfield actually had an INT. Lol

Edit: I get what you are saying about Winfield though.

I hope we get Amik Robertson CB Louisiana Tech. I think he is comparable to Winfield expect new injuries and came out as a true Junior.

Robertson was overlooked as a recruit due to his lack of size, but Louisiana folks are glad the Thibodaux native stayed in his home state to star for the Bulldogs. He made plays right out of the gate, starting all 13 games in 2017 to garner Freshman All-American and second-team All-Conference USA honors by collecting five interceptions to go along with 62 tackles, 7.5 for loss, two sacks and six pass breakups. He was a first-team all-conference selection the following year (61 tackles, 7.5 for loss, four interceptions, 12 pass breakups, two blocked kicks) and in 2019 (60 tackles, eight for loss, five interceptions) when he also earned second-team Associated Press All-American accolades by tying for the national lead with 16 pass breakups. Robertson led Tech in interceptions all three of his seasons in Ruston, scoring on three of his 14 career pickoffs. He has a son named Ayden Miguel.

Yeah he is a great pick. Teams avoided him. He had a crappy 40 at combine with a 4.6, but as his pro day he ran a 4.38.

I think we could play Ezra Cleveland at LG first year. It will be interesting. I was a huge Robert Hunt fan and he went early. Erza fits the scheme perfectly from measurables.

Spielman an said how they fill out the roster might look a little different this season since there is likely no rookie minicamp and other rookie's able to tryout and work into the roster. They will still go after undrafted rookie FAs but it wouldn't shock me if they actually used a bunch of these picks to draft guys they like instead of trying to get them as undrafted guys. I'd guess they make some moves to go up and get a guy or 2 though also. I feel like they have checked off the boxes of adding some talent to spots of needs. Will the players turn out? Idk we will see but I certainly can't complain.

Needs to me are in no particular order:

-Interior olineman I don't really see much room on the roster for another developmental tackle unless it's as a guy they hope to have on the PS.

-Safety They have their 2 starters under contract and basically nobody else. Harris is on a 1 year deal. I'd guess they add someone in the draft or be REALLY REALLY hot landing spot for undrafted FA safeties.

-DE we really don't have anyone for sure slated to start there. This is a spot I really have a ton of faith in the Vikings to find someone.

Spots they could add to depth etc:
WR LB DT CB (never have enough and they have spots open still)

So there is plenty of work to be done and it should be fun watching tomorrow whenever I get around to it.

My targets for today.

Guard -
Saahdiq Charles, Ben Bartch, Solomon Kindley, Cordel Iwuagwu, and Kyle Murphy

Shaaq Charles was a true junior and LT for LSU which was the best OL in the country. He should kick inside to LG in the NFL. (he was suspended for first 6 games of the season. I guess he cleared that up with teams) Honesly after Charles and Bartch it is very long odds for these guys being contributors in first 3 years.

Safety -
Kenny Robinson (XFL), J.R. Reed (Jake Reed's Son - All American), K'Von Wallace, L'Jarius Sneed, Antoine Brooks Jr., and Javelin Guidry.

There is a some good depth still here.

DE -
Alton Robinson, D.J. Wonnum, and Oluwole Betiku Jr.

Only project type guys left. They have measurables, but not ready to play.

WR
Tyler Johnson, Joe Reed, Quez Watkins, Isaiah Coulter, James Proche, and Quintez Cephus

Lots of depth here. I Tyler Johnson would be good. Joe Reed is a stud if he played for LSU Justin Jefferson wouldn't have been picked in the first round.

LB
Akeem Davis-Gaither, Khaleke Hudson, Shaun Bradley, & Carter Coughlin

Akeem Davis-Gaither is a baller. After that you are looking for ST/PS players here.

DT
James Lynch, Khalil Davis, and Larrell Murchison

James Lynch was first team All-American as a Junior. He is record holder for sacks at Baylor. He would be a priority.

CB
Amik Robertson. Troy Pride Jr., Kindle Vildor, Dane Jackson, Bryce Hall, L'Jarius Sneed. Reggie Robinson,
Josiah Scott, Parnell Motley, and John Reid.

I love Amik Robertson out of this group. Lots of depth.

I think we get too tied up into numbers. Pollack and Palmer last night were saying the Wisconsin linebacker, Zach something, was too small at 238 lbs. Wtf? That's ideal for an lb.

Yep. Great pick. He was best available for a long time before we grabbed him.

Any thoughts on what some other teams have done? My good friend that's a Packed fan was Pissed of about the Dillon pick at RB. I thought drafting a young QB made some sense.

Jalen Hurts to Philly. Good spot for him to land and learn. All their QBs on the roster are mobile guys so he fits there.

Bears got a TE that looks pretty good. They now have 10 TEs and they had let Burton go.

There is more interesting stuff but I'm forgetting it.

According to Rapoport Trent Williams communicated he didn't want to go to the Vikings so they moved on. I would guess the Vikings weren't looking to pay him a bunch of money on a long term deal. Will anyone be willing to do that?

Apparently the whole williams not wanting to go to vikings is not true according to williams. This whole thing has turned into a joke. I tend to believe Williamd here as we have been rumored to get him for a while and now sll of a sudden he doesnt want to play here doesnt make much sense to me.
