I think it's possible to view Durant as one of the NBAs all-time greats while also hating his move to Golden State at the same time. Did he have every right to make that move? Absolutely. But do fans have every right to feel like he wussed out by joining literally the best regular season team ever? Absolutely. And I'm one of them!
This context you guys believe will be a stain on his career just won't when he hangs it up. I've not heard once that Magic and Bird's titles are more legitimate than say Lebron's or Kareem's titles with multiple teams because Magic and Bird got them all with the team who drafted them. That's never been a thing. It won't be a thing. It's just a thing now because people are butt hurt he chose winning over losing. Next time you get your dream job offer, make sure you turn it down to keep doing what you're doing. That's what you were expecting him to do so it's only fair.
Never has a top 5 player in the prime of his career joined the greatest regular season team of all time (without said team losing a significant core guy). I honestly believe there will be a lot of analysts, commentators, and fans over many, many years that will put a mental asterisk next the title(s) Durant wins with Golden State.
As for me, I turned down my dream job to be LST's valet, but decided to stay on the farm here in Pennsylvania. The work is hard, but every fall I look out upon that field full of crops and say to myself...."I did that....I did that". Kevin Durant will never know that feeling.....ever.
Beautifully said, Q! But I want to know this. Is LST's valet position still open?

No, Camden took it. That's was the career change he alluded to a few days ago. LST is a tough SOB to work for I guess.

The fact that he's the best player on their team and will be taking down Lebron as MVP of the series is why it won't matter. If he is carried to a title I could absolutely see him getting criticized. When you go to the best team in the league, knock everyone down the totem pole below you and then be the key reason they win the title a year after they lost to the same team, you just don't have to deal with those arguments. He'll be remembered as the best player in a finals with possibly the most talent ever assembled in a finals. That kind of greatness doesn't get knocked. It actually gives him a bump to see he was better than all the other talented players on the court.

Crap!! Maybe you and I should join Cam and form a super valet team. You must be tired of watching those crops grow.

...and how is that relevant to the discussion at hand? He had just won three titles with the Bulls.
Couldn't you argue he wussed out? He left his team in his prime. I mean if he stuck around he could have had 8 championships in a row which would have been insane. This may sound out of left field (pun intended) but why doesn't he get ripped for that at all?

Ditto!!
That wraps it up pretty well. Honestly it's not really a bad thing to have players you dislike or cheer against it can make things more interesting. I'm honestly pretty much over the Durant thing and I was pretty pissed about it and I wasn't an OKC fan.
Cavs have come out like they want it. Love has been pretty good. Kyrie hasn't really got going he missed some shots around the basket he usually makes.
Watching this game and this season, Thibs cannot coach in a league where you have to score so much to keep up with teams like Golden State and Houston. Tonight is reinforcing that for me.
LeBron is a warrior, but the Warriors have too much talent with KD this year. Has there been a better team since Jordan retired than the Warriors this year?
