Lol. I remember you were the one telling us that one day Okogie would be great. Now it looks like he's closing in on greatness. :)

In all seriousness it is kinda shocking that he hasn't panned out to be more. He plays with tons of effort and he did shoot 38% behind the arc in college. I would have thought he would become more by now.

I know we joke a lot that shooters come to die in MN (RIP to this years victim Forbes), but Okogie never shot over 30% for 3 in good career. He has only had 1 month with the suns he shot under 30%. Crazy

Good for him, has a legit shot at being that last starter when everyone is healthy

Burned again! Rubio shot better after he left Minnesota. Wiggins shot better after he left. Tyus Jones shot better. Now it's Josh Okogie, who looked hopeless as a shooter for years in Minnesota! It just amazes me.

We used to talk about Josh Okogie being a $15M per year player (now might be closer to $20 or $25M) if he just developed a reliable 3 because he is such a terror defensively. If this keeps up, then Phoenix is scary good once everyone is healthy and Okogie fits perfectly....like a combination of Jae Crowder and Mikal Bridges!

Before January 2023 Okogie had hit a combined 12-50 on 3's for the season. Maybe he has turned the corner...I need to see more than 1.5 months (only played 4 games this month) before I'm convinced.

Meanwhile it's kinda bizarre to me that the last 2 seasons he is shooting under 70% from the FT line. Not being able to hit 3's ok but then being a poor FT shooter for a wing after being plenty solid? I know it's a small sample of FTs but it's weird.

Okogie's FG shooting percentage this season with the Suns is almost exactly what it was in his three previous seasons with the Wolves. He's shooting 41% from the field this season. In the previous three seasons he shot 40.0%, 40.2% and 42.7%. Yes, his 3-point percentage is up to 33.0% this season, but keep in mind that's only on slightly less than 2 attempts per game and it's not a lot of total shots since he only averages 14.4 minutes per game. So the real narrative is that Okogie remains a poor shooter getting limited minutes.

It's also worth noting that he's still only 24 years old. Therefore, it wouldn't be surprising to see him improve. However, going from 30% to 33% from behind the arc on a really small number of attempts while shooting the same percentage from the field and getting only 14 minutes of playing time per game doesn't further the narrative that players get better when they leave the Wolves.

Bryn Forbes just got arrested on a family violence charge in San Antonio.

Looks like we cut bait at the right time.

Of course, he wouldn't have been in San Antonio is we hadn't cut him. Cause and effect?

On another note, Simons sprained his ankle last night in Portland, which might help add to the "Luck Buffer"...

Or not, Tim. I already have Portland not making the playoffs anyway, but we need them to beat some of the teams we need to be more concerned with. That's what's so crazy about this playoff race with so many teams bunched up...it's difficult sometimes to know what's good news!

Meanwhile Mikel Bridges just dropped 45 points in a win over the Heat on 17-24 shooting.

That's who Los Angeles started tonight. It makes me sick that Minnesota facilitated that.
