I'm with those guys on Josh Jackson. I saw that team play a ton, and while he is certainly athletic, he didn't stand out as an elite defender most of the time. I don't hate the guy, but I think his defensive potential doesn't outweigh his potential ineptitude in other areas. Not a top 3 pick in my book. But again, the positive for him is the lack of wing players, and lack of defenders overall in this draft.

He got some horrible advice to stay in school.

Nice article on Markkanen.

interesting and balanced take. One take away from this article is how this draft...the top end of the draft has some questionable shooting ability. Too many guys have something wonky with their shot or were bad FT shooters or something like that.

It sounds like it was his decision and was thinking about staying even during the season. He likes being in college. I can't imagine anyone told him to stay in school he was going up the draft boards.

I like Fox, but his poor perimeter shooting is a gaping hole in his game. As I mentioned earlier, Smith's physical issues and motor scare me away from him. I like Monk, but I don't see all-star caliber upside in his game. That leaves me with two guys who I'd gravitate towards at #7 - Zach Collins and Markkanen.

I'd find it hard to pass on either Fox or Monk at 7, assuming those other 5 are gone that you mention Lip.

I commented on these two earlier in this thread, about how they are a little redundant with our roster, but I mostly agree we need to go for BPA and I think both those guys have more All-Star potential than Collins and Markkanen.

Fox is a legit two-way player--a defensive stud with high intangible leadership qualities--and his only weakness is really his outside shooting, although his halfway decent FT% suggests that could improve. Plus he's so young, I don't think you can close the book on that.

Monk's an insane scorer. He's like a mix between Jamal Crawford, C.J. McCollum, JJ Redick, and Lou Williams with the athleticism turned up to 10. He's undersized and hasn't shown great defense, which is a concern, but so are the guys above. I don't like the fit with LaVine already on the roster, but if you're looking for BPA, I'd take him over Collins and Markkanen.

Maybe, Nobody ever said you can't go back to school. He would have looked good in a Wolves Uni and would have helped our Gophers too.

Well its clear you don't want him to go to school now =) , but its seems pretty clear from the couple articles I read that was exactly what he wanted to do. Dunn made a similar decision. You can't go back to school if one of your goals is to win a national championship (which he said was one of the reasons he wanted to stay) which its possible because that roster is supposed to be loaded.
