Jesus, Towns and a healthy Pek would be a pretty lethal combination, but.....

I have to admit, KG has been a nice partner in crime. Because his offensive capabilities have deteriorated, he really allows Towns to be the featured big man offensively. Meanwhile, he still has strong defensive chops and that's also a good thing for Towns.

KG is willing to do the Lil things like setting solid screens, making the correct pass out of double teams and directing traffic on the defensive end.(KG almost never takes a bad shot) If Towns were playing with a guy like Kobe there would be pressure to share shots and play second fiddle. I think KG just wants to be part of the solution . Not "the" solution . I think that enables Town to just be himself . I also think the two make a heck of a defensive tandem, becuz Towns can roam a Lil more and use his athleticism while KG is still long enough to play help d and smart enough to make sure guys are in proper position. .
Let's focus on what they can be together more so than what they are separately . I mean come on, KG is literally twice his age
and on his way out of the league. Let enjoy the fact that we could potentially be watching 2 all timers gettimg to play together if for only one year. How cool is that?!

Great way of looking at it, pork. 15 years from now, people may be saying "Wow...Kevin Garnett and Karl-Anthony Towns once started on the same team! I know I'm getting ahead of myself here, but Towns' incredible start at least shows potential to be an all-time great. Who knows what will happen though.

You're right...it is cool that we get to see them on the court together, even if it's only for one season. And the icing on the cake is that they're playing so well together.

I gotta commend you, Cam, for coming back to the board with a more open mind and being less abrasive. But your old self is back. That time of the month or something?

What did I say that was abrasive? A healthy Pekovic is an absolute force. Two years ago he was a consistent double-double threat and averaged 17.4 points per game and 8.7 rebounds per game in 31 minutes per game. There's less than 10 centers in the entire NBA that can do that and he was one of them. On the other hand, Garnett is a glue guy at this stage of his career. He's averaging 4.0 PPG and 6.5 RPG in 17.5 MPG through just two games so far, but he averaged just under 7 PPG and 7 RPG last year in 20 MPG. That's the level of production we're going to get from KG. Pekovic was damn near All-Star status.

I like what I've seen with KG and KAT on the floor together, despite it being in limited action. I think they work well together and have similar abilities on defense, though KAT's more physically able and KG is well-equipped with knowledge of the game. I like that Garnett is there to pick Towns up if he does something wrong or commend him for doing something well.

With all that said, however, Pekovic would have more of an on-court impact than Garnett and I don't think it's even close. That's not being abrasive, that's having a solid argument.

Also, implying that a male is menstruating is more abrasive, or childish, than anything that I've said in a good while.

U have to remember that with Towns gobbling up a lot of rebounds and scoring at a good clip there's less to go around for others and that's great. IF Pek were playing not only would his offensive numbers go down ud still be stuck with his subpar defense and all the bunnies he seems to miss . He also brings no leadership and doesnt direct traffic on the defensive side of the ball. Those things hold more value to me than you and that's fine so we"ll just have to disagree .

Pek was 12.5/7.5 last season in over 26 minutes so not really much of a difference, and nowhere near the defender KG is.

How was Tim supposed to know you were a male?

Huh? Didn't Nikola Pekovic play next to some guy named Kevin Love? There would be plenty of rebounds and points to go around, especially considering how versatile Towns is.

Also, no, I value defense immensely and Pekovic is an underrated defender, always has been. He gets torched in the pick-and-roll, but most bigs do now-a-days. At least he'd have a shot-blocker to help cover up his mistakes on this team, something he never really had in the past. His post defense is great and he's always been a big plus on the glass. A huge part of defense is ending possessions with a rebound and Pek did that or sealed off somebody so that a teammate could do just that. His impact when healthy is often forgotten around here. Keep in mind we'd be comparing a guy that plays starter minutes to a guy that has a minute limit each night. I don't see how my argument is wrong here.

I guess to be fair I was the leader of the don't resign Pek club so this argument is pointless . KGS a winner, Pek never has been.. I think that mentality supercedes anything that Pek would bring to the table .
I was gonna mention too that I think this team has enough scoring from the first unit that it's a good thing to have one players that's OK with his role and does it very well.

Cam - I thought you made the KG/Pek comparison out of the blue, simply to bait the pro-KG guys. I see now it was in response to a post that actually did reference KG and Pek. My bad.

I really did think you were female. I mean, it would explain a lot! ;-)
